You just select which type of bulb you have for fogs which should be H1. What are you trying to do?

So you're looking for the fog light lens? I'm sure you can find online on ebay or some other seller. Maybe a local dealer?

also looking at getting the sand-blasted ones a fresh look.

there are a couple of thoughts I ran into,....

the stock ones are hella, and have lines in the lens,
they are very good at spreading the light.

- to replace the lens only, but that would not change the looks,...
- to get projectors ones, but they would look lost, and the light output, would not be as good, especially to the side
- clear or crystal ones, look good, but hella has much better reflector
also with clear, I'am afraid , it will cause more glare for oncoming traffic
- cheap projectors and HID, be to much glare for sure
- to get the crystal ones, and just use the lens, but the lens is part of the reflector, for beam pattern,...
- to go with hella micro DE, be more work, than a like

- LED, be nice if there was on option, to have the newer look LEDS,
and use them for daylight driving, and looks.
but to be practical, they would need to be powerful and dot/sae approved
think hella has some, but $400 plus install, is a little steep for me,...

one thing to be aware of if you attempt to replace a fluted lens with a
crystal clear one:

the fluted lens helps camoflage a reflector which is aesthetically unsightly.
it can, because the view through the flutes is distorted. if the flutes
become clear, you see an ugly reflector....kinda like jessica simpson nekked
and no make up. so just be aware.

HID FOGLIGHTS

I just got brand new AMG fog lights for my 2000 and I want to hook up HID's to them. I bought the Hid's at a local shop $60. AMG uses "H3" not H1. It looks like I am going to have to splice wires together. The factory plug, female end on the fog light is smaller. The HID kit has a larger male plug, same design and will not fit. Maybe they sell an adapter???? Need to find one before I decide to cut wires.............

HID's in fog lights be too much,

- if they are not designed for it, might melt
- too much glare, especially when wet
- ticket magnet,...

if you take a look at the fog lights, you'll see pretty much all decent ones,
have a bulb shield, ether build in or in the bulb.

also, if it has a bulb shield build in, the HID bulb is longer and won't fit.

Actually in another board HID's were tested and are fine in the fogs. There is a shield built in on the AMG fogs. To fit the larger bulb you have to slightly bend the shield back to fit the light in. Here is the link

I just installed 5000k h3 hid's in my e55 . They look great . I actually pushed the reflector a little too much in on one side so i kind of shines a little bright but they look beautiful and were plug and play . But i had to splice the wires because i didn't want to drill a whole into plastic cover so spliced and ran through the little slot on the cover and hooked them up .. One thing . The h3 bulb used ground wire that connects directly into bulb housing . On hid you have to disconnect and run directly to harness might seem tricky . Also one of my positive wires didnt have plastic protoector end so when i buttoned it all up shoved wires into the housing area popped a fuse .. will post a pic of how they look soon as i charge my battery up .
I bought these lights for $40 they list $43 but if you offer $40 they will accept very fast shipped have bought couple times from them
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT
i have no affilliation other then im a customer of theirs

They are direct plug and play no seperate power harness relay ..
They are slim digital ballast kind of a ***** because i was working through little whole of the plastic under cover but still managed to find a place . But for $40 bucks you can't go wrong hell my PIAA's cost me 60 for some wanna be hid look bulb new i shoulda gone str8 with hid's FTW
