Fleece Oil Filter

I have been using the Fleece Oil Filter from Autohaus exclusively. When I received the first one I expected to see a woolly type fleece on the filter but it looks exactly like the non fleece one from Auto Zone. What gives, I've always wondered?

RichardM98 is correct. Who’d have thought polyester desirable again?

Thanks Guys for enlightening me, it's nice to know that I have not been "fleeced" each time I buy a fleece filter. It's also nice to know that my polyester shirts can now be referred to as "fleece" shirts. Maybe I will cut up some old shirts and wrap them around my filter for extra filtration. Maybe I will patent this idea.

I hope you are not serious, there was an adapter going around that used a roll of toilet paper as a filter

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am not serious but I am the consummate clown. I do remember the toilet paper adapters from 50 years ago, but I never used them, too risky.

Mobil 1 5-40

I am trying to buy Mobil 1 5W-40 for my 1999 E320 but the only oil that pops up in Google search is for the diesel oil and the ESP Formula 1 5W-40. Any suggestion on where to purchase the regular 5W-40?

Oil locator

Just today I finished a fairly complete search for Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP in the greater Seattle area. As mentioned in other spots in this forum Exxon Mobil touts the 0W-40 ESP as their best for the application and implies that it has the highest detergent level of all their oil. Absolutely none is available and is quite rare in the US. Late this afternoon I found 8 quarts of M1 0W-40 European blend on the shelf of Pep Boys for $9.29/qt minus 10% discount for over a case. I sent off an email to Exxon Mobil corp headquarters to ask 'what gives' on the ESP since their website clearly shows it. M1 5W-40 ESP is fairly available at O'Reilly's and others.

This topic has been discusses numerous times and the best advice is to follow what MB specs for your car. Do not be fooled my marketing gimics or asking the neighbors wife what oil she uses.

You car uses 229.5 specified oil and not the diesel ESP 229.51. Just look at the back side of the oil bottle and you will see all the specs that the oil meets. Very simple and sure!!

0-40 is the oil you want. Look on the back of the bottle. It has to meet 229.5 MB spec. It is called 0-40 European Spec in the USA.( 0-40 ESP is for diesels and meets 229.51.)

Don't go to the corporate website. Go to the Mobil Oil website and there is a calculator for you car.

The OP is right this has been discussed ad nauseum. Search on the Forum and read your OM. There is a corpus of good data here and you have an obligation to find it before firing off questions. Sorry to be a bit direct but that is what a computer and this site is for.
