Did I get a good deal?

I just picked up a 99 E55 for $52,000. Its black on black/silver. It had only 15,000 miles and a clean title. I checked the entire vehicle inside, outside, and underneath, and everything looked orginal and clean. There is a small rock chip/crack on the windshield but my mechanic says he can get me a new MBZ windshield for around $300. No dents and one small ding on the passenger door. All my contacts in automotive industry told me I got a great deal and the car books for much more. I just wanted to see what you guys thought. I traded in my 00 Lorinser CLK430 Cab for this, couldnt resist the power.

Seems like a really good deal to me. Only 15,000, thats pretty low milage. That Lorinser CLK you had is nice! But I would still take a E55 over that anyday. Also looks like you have a E36 M3. You got some nice cars.

It seems like you got a good deal. Just checking the LA Times today there are a few 99's for sale in the 49k range but miles are higher. 15k is low for a 3 year old car but for an E55 its just a little high. I'd pay 52k for it based on your comments- what really matters is how the engine was handled. I know the AMG's are bulletproof but I am hearing some horror stories of mechanical breakdowns not all on AMG's though.

Based on your mileage here is what low book is on a 99 E55. I am not sure of what options you have (K2, K2A, etc) but you can always adjust it. Either way congrats on your new beast, I am sure you wont see this post till next week when you finally get out your car. :p

I dont have the VIN number handy but Ive already checked on it, the car has had no accidents in the past. As for options, I dont know what comes with a E55 and what doesnt. I know that it has much more than my previous E320 and E430. Its got the following: auto sunshade, heated front seats, two tone interior, HID headlights, headlight washers, CD changer, integrated cell phone (not startac but this other huge Motorola phone), and AMG 18" wheels. I took the deck, changer, and phone out already. Put the Alpin IVA-C800 into the stock location, relocated the Alpine CD Changer to the glove box, and added a set of DynAudio 7" separates. There is no way of knowing how the engine was used by previous owner but the undercarriage seems very clean and everything is original. The car was an Arizona car and was transported over to CA to sell. I have the original window sticker from when the car was sold. It lists $77.806 as an MSRP.

It seems like you got everything offered in the 99 package. The 2000 and 2001 models offered Command, and the 2001's come with ventilated seats as an upgrade. None of this makes much difference. I work for Lexus (yes but I own a Benz too) and the residuals on new leases with navigation systems are 2 points lower than the standard models. The Nav systems bring nothing to the table in regards to resale but boost up the MSRP at the start- thus the residual adjustment.

The 77k MSRP on yours was for was for the first year of the E55- My 2001 with everything you have plus voice control stickered at 73k. Did you get contoured seats??

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Enjoy!! The 55 is a great car...

butr I've got to say that, relative to our part of the country at least, you paid top of the market for a 99. Of course, it's the right color and right miles. But the 2000 changes have made the 99's tough most everywhere (re-style, prepaid service, SOS, touch shift, teleaid). Nice cars can be bought in our part of the country retail in the mid-high 40's. But what does it matter really--if you're happy, who cares? I too would like to see somre more pix of the 430 Cab. Did you keep the LM5's?
