Engine light came on.

Changed spark plugs, spark plug wires, Mass Air Flow sensor. Light still on.

The car runs fine.

Could it be the o2 sensors?

Did you clear the code

or just let the new maf self adapt?
Did you buy the maf off of ebay(fake clone) or www.autohausaz.com (real)?

Not the MAF issue, been turned off by shop and it came back on.

Yes, my MAF is authentic. No cheap Ebay crap.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

No, but I check the attachments everything looks secured. I figured the chances are slim for a leak. But I will do the smoke test.

Anything else?

Going through the same hunt for the mysterious cause for the very annoying P0170.

I've got a '98 90K E430 and have done the easy stuff so far. MAF (from autohausaz), fuel filter(MBZ), air filter (Mann), 02 sensor, and gas cap gasket.

Don't think it's the spark plugs as it appears to not be the case. I've looked for vacuum leaks, but there doesn't appear to be any. Any suggestions on where to check?

We've had the car since new and this is really really annoying. The car, however, drives well, gets 20 mpg in mixed driving and the CEL only triggers when at idle.

I think the next step is to take it to the dealer for them to hook it up to the STAR diag to see what the cause may be. Fortunately, I have a good friend who's a mechanic at the dealer so at least I know the $$ spent is well invested.
