Firmer ride, still tolerable on the street.
you would not like a single setting(soft to firm) on the yellows unless you take your car to track days at the local track.
Performance/handling comes from so much more than simply changing shock absorbers.

The softest setting on
yellows is firmer than any HD made. They are performance shocks made for modified suspensions. Lowered, stiffer sway bars, performance springs, tires, etc.
Why ruin a nice ride. And pay 4 times the amount to do it?

i bought new Koni yellow body with only 3 settings (not 7) the soft was like
MB OEM ride, the middle was slightly firmer, and #3 was firmest but not as
firm as I'd like.
i then bought the Bilstein HD and it, with its single setting, was noticeably
firmer, yet reasonably compliant, than the firmest Koni.
i sold the Konis to a forum member. very happy with the Bilstein HDs with
1.25" drop on Eibacht progressive wound springs.

You must have bought
used.
Stiffness of ride does not come from shocks. Shocks dampen.
Op wants stiffer spring rate i.e. lowered springs higher rate.Or cut coil and bigger sway bar. Performance.

Trust me man. i have the invoice in hand, brand new 75$p/u
We have here a customer e55 with bilstein hd's (ride confort is exelent) and i have the koni's in my car, the 4 position is prety exactly the same as the factory amg/bilstein shocks. the 1st position is like an e320 (a little harder cause the sway bars) and the top position is like a 3.8rs cup :S. Just a very good price for the quality and give you the posibility to play with the car a little if you have some special track day or long travel

fabio - can you check invoice and post part numbers for me? i may want to
try those out, especially if #4 is like Bilstein HD. sometimes i with the HDs
had a bit more dampening in them.

Sure Ray, here is the Part #
Front: 8041 1317Sport (Externally adjustable)
Rear: 8041 1318Sport (Externally adjustable)
Front: 26 1602Sport (Internally adjustable)
Rear: 26 1603Sport (Internally adjustables)
* Internally adjustables: "you need to remove it from the car, full compress and turn it 1/4 turn by turn to adjust the settings" like some bilsteins
I have the Externally adustables ones. You can review the Koni website and you would see the adjustable procedure for the 2 models, here is the link for the 99 W210's
http://www.koni-na.com/cat_search.cf...=30&submit.y=9
Check the yellows (Sport). The FSD kit is not adjustable and not suitable for lowered cars like the euro spec E55 (I sent an e-mail and koni people confirm this)
Hope that help

thanks, Fabio! i cross checked the part numbers and then searched around but
so far, the few specs and photos i've seen actually showing adjustments point
to 3 clicks. i haven't been able to locate and confirm 7 clickers for them yet.
i'll keep checking.

I was looking into these Bilstein Shocks,
BLS B36-2156,
slightly different part number to what ohlord posted above?
I'm currently on this (Kido shocks and springs - not coilovers despite picture) and the ride is pretty shocking, had this setup for 2 years or so, finally blew a rear left shock so want to change to a quality setup but still stay nice and low. Should I change my springs out as well to Eibachs/HRs or do you think the Kido springs with adjustable perches should go alright with the Bilsteins?
Apparently my current spring rates are 8kg/mm and 9kg/mm, F/R, unsure if linear or progressive.
