Oil Filters -German Fleece available at Advance Auto

The Purolator L25277 Oil Filter Available at Advance Auto for $11.99 is a German built fleece filter. I held it next to a Mann and it is identical. It is stamped Made in Germany.

the L25276 is the same price but it's the paper version identical to the Fram. if you look up our cars on their system, they'll tell you to get the L25276, don't do it. The L25277 is far superior.

You can get this filter included with an oil special that includes the Purolator Classic Filter. For $20 I got the filter included with 5 qts Penzoil oil which I can use for my other cars.

Also today Advance has a one day special for 20% off anything. That means you can order online and pick them up at the store for less then $10. Good deal

Good to know. Not to many Napa stores around here though. Seems to be an Advance and Autozone on every corner.

I usually grab the Mobie 1 at advance for $30 for 5 qts with a Mobil 1 Oil Filter. I use those filters on my Jeep and Suburban.

Also try GermanFilters.com. If you by 4 at a time, the Mann filters are around $7 ea, save even more if you buy 10!

The L25277 fits 2006 and newer V6 engines according to the Advance Auto Catalog and you are right about the paper filter L25276 is shown as the only one for our vehicle per Advance Auto.

I am going to find some data sheets to see if the the 'only' difference between the 2 filters are "fleece vs. paper" filtration material.

Cannot tell if these Purolator filters have the 'anti-drain' back valve built into them. Several online MB parts catalogs specify the anti-drain back filter type for the M112 engines.

How has your experience been with this filter?

I have a 2002 E320.

Thank you.

The Purolator response is below. Actuallly the 25277 has the same dimensions as the Mann, which are the correct size for our M112/M113 engines. Stay away from the paper one (25676) - it flops around on the shaft, and the one I had leaked at the filler cap due to an undersized o-ring.

Bosch and Mann own Purolator, so it makes sense that we will see some cross-pollination.

Hello Tom,

Thank you for your inquiry. The L25676 is the recommended filter for your vehicle. Refer below for the specifications for both filters.

Thank you,

James

The 25276 flopped around for me too. Exactly the same as the Fram. Stick with the 25277

Be wary of GermanFilters.com. Apparently they went belly-up about Sept 2011 and left a lot of folks with unfilled orders after charging their credit cards. I think there are some threads on this forum about it.
