Anyone running 235/40/18 with H&R or eibach springs?

I have a 97 e320 with 18" AMG reps on 235/40/18 potenzas.

I had to use 5mm spacers on the rear wheels in order to make them fit properly.

I'm wondering if anyone is running 235/40/18s on H&R or Eibach springs without any problems?

I'm not really looking for any performance upgrades, just want to eliminate wheel gap. I also plan on getting Bilstein sport shocks.

I have that same tire setup on my brabus IVs. in order to make sure they will fit correctly, you need to know the offset of the wheels. but if you said you needed 5mm spacers just to make the rears fit, I'm guessing that your offset is higher than mine. I had so much room in the rears with ET35 that I fit a 25mm spacer in the rears and still have a little room to play with.

Offset is 35mm but it just looks so close that i may not even have room if i resort to rolling fenders.. Ill post pics tomorrow. Crazy you could put a 25mm spacer on and still have room, that would be wayy too far for me.

I was thinking maybe a little camber could help me
Out.. Not sure cuz this would be my first time lowering anything

are your wheels 18x8.5? mine are 18x8.5, ET35 all around. before lowering, I thought the rears were gonna be pretty close to the fender. I was wrong. lol

here are a few before and after pictures with 25mm spacers.

after 25mm spacers:

they are 18x8 and what springs did you use h&r or eibach? because that ride height you have is exactly what im going for.. not too low, not too high.

also did you run into any issues with the front control arm bolt? maybe need spacers up there as well if i wanna go low?

i figured the back wheels would be a little tucked up in the wheel well, but it looks like thats not the case at all, good to know. i may just have the lowest possible shims in the back and not know it... still wanna know what kind of springs ya got tho

really appreciate the help, your car looks great, paint those side skirts or get some facelift skirts! i got mine painted but am thinking of just buying amg skirts and rear bumper.

clean car man. I couldn't find the springs I wanted, which were the H&R sport cup kit springs (set comes with springs and shocks together). I had 2 chances to buy fellow member BADwayz's set, but I didn't have the money when the chances came up.

Here's how his car looked with the cup kit:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/sale...r-cup-kit.html

since I couldn't get those springs anymore and I didn't want to pay for a new set, I just met up with another fellow member, desired_speeds, who was swapping his e55 springs out. so we cut his e55 springs and put them in mine. still trying to get a little bit lower though, so I could get the same ride height as BADwayz. lol

Ya i was gonna get the h&r touring kit but after some research i decided to go with eibach springs. Little Less of a drop and more of a smooth ride. Heard the H&Rs are really stiff and im not doin it for performance, i jus wanna get rid of my wheel gap and make it look nice

Tirerack.com has the kit!

OH MAN that looks perfect! Not too low and not too high. Can you possibly get a picture with the cars profile a bit better...it's hard to see it all and the black rims on black makes it harder :/

Totally want to do eibachs and koni shocks. Did you change out the shocks?

no i didnt do them myself... family friend has a shop and helps me out alot. I understand the concept, but dont got the tools for the job.

i want the look your rear wheels have siopaolover.. hoping that #1 pads in back will drop it enough... also thinkin 1s or 3s upfront, considering thats what it looks like with 5s.. idk how noticeable the difference is from pad to pad... dont want my car to look like its nose diving

and the rears should look close to mine with 1 pads. blacked210 had h&rs with 1 pads in the rears and it looked like mine

Yea i ordered some jack stands im gonna attempt to do it myself.. After watching im pretty confident i can do it myself... We didnt need a spring compressor for the back, we just dropped the lower control arm and the spring came right out.

Be careful though man if you're doing the fronts without the compressor. I've seen DIYs on it, but I'm pretty scared to lol

and did you put the 1 pads in the rear already?

Just gonna attempt the backs. Probly wont get em done for a week or so, waiting for everything in the mail.. Idk how anyone can take the fronts off with no compressor? Drop the control arm up front as well? They seemed like they had alot more pressure on em up there lol
