Conversion kit from W210 to W211

Guys,

Have you seen the new conversion kit for the W210s to W211s? was told that you can't tell the diff, 'cept for the roof lines ( plus the inerior bits if you don't change it. ) I've seen the conversion of the previous S class to the current S class, and i must say I'm impressed. The conversion of the old SL 55 to the new one is even more amazing!

I think the conversion kit for the 210 to 211 will be out next week in Germany..just wondering has anyone ever thought of it?

For a person like me in malaysia, where Merc are 200% more than the actual value, it's a bargain to be able to drive a newer model! lol

Hmmm, very interesting. It will probably cost an arm and a leg. I'm curious to see how it looks if anyone has any info...

Not really jimmy.. conversion rate for 1 US to 3.8 RM

Lets say a 1997 E320 - RM160,000

COnversion kit plus workmanship RM40,000
So total for a make shift W211 is RM200,000

New W211 starts about RM380,000 just for the E200 K..

quite a substantial amount..even for the S class, a 96 only cost about RM110,000. COnversion kit RM50,000 (which includes full interior works and AMG 19 inch wheels.. :P) total RM160,000. New S-class is about RM450,000.

I saw the S class and SL 55 before and after pics. QUite authentic. ONly diff for the SL is you can pick up the roof line, and you know its not the real deal, however, once the top is down, it can full the most hardcore merc fans.

Will wait for the brochure and try to foward info to everyone

Well, if I'm doing my conversions correctly according to you info, that's a lot of money for a Benz out there. Anyway, would love to see some pics...

I hope the W211 conversion will look *somewhat* good...these old ones are all "off" looking, the SL is way too long and flat from the side view...

Yep, they can never replcate the proportions with a completely different chassis and also, most evident are those (lovely) side contours on the new Benz's, unless they change the doors etc. as well..........save your cash Carlsson9, accept your ride's heritage and do it up nice the way it should be - its more of a challenge

awww come on guys..you can't really expect to convert the old Cs, Ss and SLs to exactly the current models. But from far and based on the actual shapes of these old models, they do pull off a somewhat decent job..

Whitey, don't worry..will be keeping my W210 for a while. Can probably afford the new ones later in life..like when I'm 40.. :P

I agree. They won't be able to get close to the OEM look but they do a pretty good job I think. It's probably not going to be worth the money though.

it'll probably be not worth the money where mercs are sold cheap..but in malaysia where car taxes are like 200% up, it's a bargain to have a somewhat new look!

I agree with carlsson9. I have seen the W124 to W210 conversions, it really makes you look twice. I think when you are a MBZ enthusiast, you can see the subtle and not so subtle differences between facelist conversions and even differences between early and late W210s. I would look into something like this if the price were right.

Mmmmmm...........I reckon its not gonna be that cheap. No offence but the only reaction will probably be: "That's a peculiar looking car????........Ahhhhhh, its a old Benz trying to look like a new one - cheap!".

Exactly,

It will be better to save the money on the conversion and apply it towards a new model because I dont think your gonna get that money back when you sell the modified old model.

i hear you guys..i'm actually never going to apply this on my Merc, but there were people doing it, cause they're real scrooges, plus they like their old mercs. I hear that in the event that they want to sell the car, they can convert it back to the old series as easy as that.

I'm still waiting for the W210 to W211 pics to come out. What i've heard is its pretty good in comparison to the other series.

BUt we've recently got a new tax hike on car..

a new W211 E200 K will cost about RM420,000..:/

Arrrghhhh
