Question 18x9 front fitting wheels, needs help!

Does anybody has18x9 on all 4 wheels setup? I have a set of Carlsson 2/6 brilliant edition with Yokohama AVS ES100 235/40/18 tires. I am still waiting for my mounting bolts to get here. This wheel has an offset of ET35. I have been doing some research on the forum. most people has staggered setup. 18x8 front and 18x9 rear. I am planning to installed this on my 2000 E320. what should I do. Is 18x9 going to fit without rubbing any thing?
thanks

The fronts I just put on are 18x8 ET31. That is the AMG setup. You might have problems with rubbing because of the offset and extra inch width. You might need spacers. Check with Whitey about this.

Thanks E-Klasses. I just PM Whiney about this. I'll tried to see if it will fit when my bolts gets here. If it tured out to be a non-fit condition. Hopefully someone on this forum or locally will have (4) 18x8 the same type of wheel that to exchange with, then have to go with the staggered setup. I guess the only bad things is no tire rotations if that's the case.

18X9 up front? Who recommended that. I would be curious that it fits. Just comparing the E55 front 18X8 et31 and a 18X9 et35 you get this from the wheel calculator:

"The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 17mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 9mm"

If your E320 has 16X7.5 et41 it will be:

"The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 13mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 25mm"

That is not going to fit.

"Whiney" just replied

Don't do it! Per Kev's calcuations, spacers will make things worst!

Sorry, "Whitey" didn't mean to do that. I just looked up the name and took a quick glance, I am sorry about the typo. Thanks for your help. Hopefully I'll get my wheels installed soon, and find the correct size.

it fits!!

Guys,

I finally got my bolts yesterday and got them wheels mounted. It looks pretty sharp. I couldn't believe it actually stll had few mm clearance in the front fender area, no rubbing at all. But I have agree 18x9 is kind big for 235/40/18 tires, the rim still had rooms left for wider tire. You can actually tell it sticks out a little in the front fender area. I wish I did bought 18x8s So I could use bigger wider tires. well, I guess is too late now unless I'll trade with some body else with the front set. But the upside is I can rotate tires now. I'll post some pictures later when is sunny outside. thanks.

Make sure you check the front inside as well. I changed my setup by only 4mm and it rubbed inside. I actually drove with it and thought everything was and actually discovered the rubbing while looking for something else!

Get on the ground with the car on the ground and look at all the suspension bit. I went from 18X8 et31 to 18X8 et35 using a Nitto 555 and it touched completely all the time. I had to use a Dunlop 9000 on the front and there is no more room on the inside.

Also, if your suspension is not stiff, the suspension may rub when the suspension bottoms out.

I would think that a smaller tire in front would be better for handling. Too fat of a tire would not corner well. The back tires are nice and wide for traction but the fronts are for maneuvering.

Wheel lip hanging out

When the tire shop installed my front wheel, he stuck a note pad about 3mm thick behind the strut and suspension area and it was was clear. We also turned the wheel right and left all the way plus tested drive thru some streets with high curbs. Didn't feel like rub anything. May be this Yokohama tire does the trick, I don't know for sure. But I have to agree the wheel is wide and I can see the lip stick out on this 18x9 wheels. Wider tire definetly is a plus, but no room and won't fit. I don't know if I like the look or not. If not can always Ebay them, unless some one else has the same kind wheel (Carlsson 2/6 Brilliant editions) wants to do the staggered set up. of course they would have to have (4) 18x8s to swap. Wouldn't you think 4 same size wheels are easier to sell than the staggeed size later on down the road??
