bad idea to install xenons into...
i ask this question because i have read that in reflector based xenon installs, the light output is not that great and causes a noticable glare due to the way the xenon bulb will react to the reflectors.
anyone who has installed xenons into their mercedes with reflector halogen headlamps... do you have a noticable glare assoicated with them?
Before I upgraded to OEM Euro xenons, I had a Hella upgrade kit in my halogen lights. I got pulled over within a week. And that was before HID upgrades were outlawed...
The results are outstanding. I opted to try the retrofit mainly because the headlamps I have are in perfect shape and I wanted to see clearly at night. The fact that the xenons have a sweet color output was in my decision but not the main deciding factor.
I have stock Philips 4200K or so bulbs. I haven't had problems with these lamps at all. I've had others tell me they look like the stock xenons that are the read deal. I've been flashed every so often. But I'm sure others with proper xenon headlamps with the proper housings have been flashed as well just because some people don't like them and stare directly into the light. I've read the Philips auto lighting forums and there have been some odd issues with people complaining over non-sense.
If it makes any difference if there is a retrofit to be done, supposedly the H7 housings are the best. Their reflector designs closest resemble those of xenon-based reflectors. Hence the service advisor stating that they may be the same, except the the bulb mounting.
How do you like it ? I'm looking at the Philips HID kid on eBay right now.
Thanks.
i had installed a aftermarket hid kit into my headlights with no problem, it helped me see better at night, like the whole road, it just might suck for other people at night...oh well

i am installing the w211 projectors along with a 8000k hid kit in the next couple days, i will post pics as soon as i can, but from my last kiti had to change the fuse and everything was okay.......
i saw a little of how it would look and it's nice, just need some projector or clear fogs
I got a set of the plug and play's for my E430 and the light output is great. I've never been flashed, in more than a year of driving, and the light is focused where it should be focused. There have been no issues with the computer accepting them as stock since I didn't get a bulb indicator warning from swap. I have the stock Xenon's in my E55 and the light from the aftermarket xenon bulbs in the stock E430 halogen ballast is better. No regrets, good luck!
got any pictures?
Aftermarket.
could you please tell me how you wired up you ballast? did you just take the postive and negative wires from the headlight (yellowish and brownish wire) and connect them with the postive and negative wires from the ballast?
thanks in advance!

Yes, everything pluged in and there was no need to even splice the wires. I went with an 8000K Phillips kit.
Do you install the Clear Headlight (W211 style) and the philips 8000k HID to your car yet?
actually I am trying to install the w211 style headlight to my W210 too but recently I found out that the after market projection headlight is not DOT Aprroved.
I found two sellers who selling this projector headlight but one is claiming his headlight is made in germany(IN PRO) and the other claiming his is made in taiwan. When i looked at the picture, this two headlights look the same, nothing difference at all. the seller also said the headlight is not dot approved.
Do you think this headlight is legal? and what will happen if you install the after market xenon on it, do you think you will get pull over by the police?
any way, do you have any pictures of your new headlight?
thanks..

i have some question regarding the projector headlight and the HID kits.
did you got pulled over twice because of the HID and the headlight or because you are speeding?
since i go to school at CSUN. You know, many police around CSUN and they like to give ticket. i don't want to give the police chance to find an excuse to give me a ticket.
what brand of the projector headlight do you got? mind to tell me where do you bought it? i try to shop around to get cheaper price for my headlight. Any way, i just bought 6000k philips HID kits from ebay. do you get error message when you install your headlight?
thanks for your help richard..
