E55 W210 differential ratio ???
Hello,
Does anybody know for sure what diff ratio there is supposed to be on a 1999 E55 ??
Im having problem with my gearbox and im
suspecting the diff since my ratio is 2.65 and I haven’t found ANY E55 W210 with that ratio.
Does anybody know?
Its located in europe if that verision is different from American.

Okay are you 100% sure?
everywhere I have searched, 2.82 as you Said seems to be the right ratio.....
But would wrong rpm really put the car in limp mode? Even after it shifted?

Yeah, i'm so sure mate,,
limp mode is another story,
many things could cause limp mode, "bad conductor plate/bad TCU/oil sneaks to TCU/bad pressure solenoids"..!,,
have to diagnose the car to confirm that..?!?

Okey, thats something to look into atleast.
Well I have been diagnosing this car for almost a year now.
There is one code present:
147/ gear implausable or transmission is slipping
have changed:
oil
filter
conductor plate
valvebody incl solenoids (70 000miles)
tried another E55 TCU same problem
regulator pressure spring
Car reaches 3rd gear and then limp mode.
What do you think?

Did you replace the gearbox with E55 one..?, if so, did you replace it with "722.624" or "722.636"..??,,
also, do you have TCU/EGS51 or 52..???

Yes, even changed the conductor plate with a 3rd one.
oil level has been trippel checked. (With SDS ofc)
But cant the wrong diff be the culprit?

Yeah bro.,
wrong diff. Ratio will interrupt the RPM shifting range, cause the diff. Ratio is saved in TCU file,,
it could be the reason, but can't assure to you that, unless if TCU can't handle the pressure range of solenoid (Y3/Y6's),,
prefer to put "2.82" Ratio, with TCU reset, then it will be so clear to figure out the reason, after diagnose..!

Well I guess its time to start looking for a diff.

As you know; "2.65" is taller than "2.82",
when you accelerate TCU controls the pressure through those (Y3/Y6's) solenoids, then the RPM/ speed sensors will send wrong signal back to the TCU..!,
ECU should know the RPM range that saved to the TCU, that's why wrong Ratio, won't gives the proper shift..!?!,
you have "EGS51", that unfortunate can't be programmable..!, if you have "EGS52", you can program it with any Ratio you desired..
