2000 E320 Wagon parking light and rear window

Hi!

I'm a new proud owner of a 2000 E320 Wagon. Everything works so far except for two things:

1. Driver's side parking light
2. Driver's side rear window

For the parking light, I have replaced the inline fuse with 1A ones and verified the socket and harness is okay. I disconnected the socket (with inline fuse) from the car and connected it to my 12v power adapter. Light worked fine. Now, connected back to the car, nothing. I verified voltage around 12v, but no light? It doesn't make any sense.

For the rear window, i haven't troubleshoot it yet. All I know is both center console and on the door itself, I'm not getting any sign or sound that it's receiving any commands.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

i don't know if you mean parking light in the high beam assembly or the parking light on the bumper,
therefore I don't know which socket you're referring to

once you substitute for the car power, you've removed a big part of the puzzle. what you've done
simply isolates the socket and ignore the car wiring/circuit as a possible cause

no insight into the window since you've not performed any testing. rear window regulators are
notorious for going belly up.

The one inside the high beam assembly. Fuse is okay. And verified the voltage is correct.

I will open the door panel so I can check what's going on with the window. I just thought maybe there's something else I can check aside from the fuse.

Thank you.

okay, the socket AND wiring harness are well known for prematurely decomposing. the harness
insulation will become brittle and fall apart in your hands. same for the socket. it MAY be that
the amperage exceeds the wiring design and it should have been more robust or heavier gauge
as well. separate sub-harness is available to purchase. so see if your troubleshooting isolates
the problem in these areas

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...placement.html

from memory: be sure you're checking the correct fuse. something in the back of my mind is
telling me that one fuse covers one PAIR of light bulbs ...but the bulbs are opposite sides

window regulator:
sure, there are other things you can check besides the fuse but they all involve a little more
probing and removal of the door panel (which is fairly easy). Youtube has many videos on
w210 rear panel removal and window regulator (problem can be regulator, motor, plastic
widget....so no guesses until you remove panel).

congratulations on your wagon purchase. I drive my truck 99% of the time and when it is dry out
(here in Seattle, snort) I may take the car out to stretch its legs. I love my 99 RWD sedan. it's the
only vehicle i have which has auto transm so I can do the Chick Fil A in one hand and drive with
the other.

You're such good help Raymond! I actually placed an order for the lamp holder (with in-line fuse) harness and see if that'll solve the issue. Otherwise, I will double check the fuses.

I will come back with updates for the rear window issue.

Thanks again!

True! But if I'm going to purchase another Mercedes, I'd look for a manual. Too many autos already.

Update

Okay. So I got the new OEM bulb socket harness for the parking light and still the same. I also replaced both bulbs with new ones as I'm not sure if they're the right ones (12v 6w).

Does this means I have to remove the headlight assembly to check the main harness?

If it's the harness, then I should not get 12v from the parking light socket. I'm really clueless here.
