Installed my nav successfully this weekend. Thanks to anyone who has contributed to this thread, it made the install super easy. Just to add my 2 cents to the thread:

If you are planning on pulling up the passenger side entry way to access your MOST ring, the fiber optic cable w/o the sheath will be easily visible, the fiber optic cable w/the black sheath is actually run pretty far up into the cabin. It will look like its running up to the head unit, it is not. However it is taped to another bundle of wires, just remove the tape and pull it toward the back seat. Then just connect the fiber optic cables labelled 13 and 14, plug the other two together (16XX and 20 I believe, but it doesn't really matter as when you plug 13 and 14 together the other two cables left just need to be plugged into each other). Then viola, ur now tapped into the most ring.

Installation of OEM Unit into 2007 E350

Great Instructions.
I'm about to embark on a similar project to install an OEM Unit (eBay - $350 w/ Disks) into my wife's 2007 E350 Sedan. If I don't do it right it's divorce court. So do you think the install is similar to this thread or should I look elsewhere? I took the little panel off the pass side trunk compartment and it looks like there is a 1 plug (fits exactly into the unit) and 1 fiber optic (blue)plug / black cable that also plugs right into the unit although the other end of this fiber cable isn't plugged into anything. I have not taken the trunk cover off yet.
Thanks in advance, Lou

Passenger side? Did you mean to say driver side?

Screws and bolts are missing on your list to complete the retrofit.

Any pictures of the location of the loop connection that needs to be done near the B-Pillar on the driver's or passenger side? My car was pre-wired in the trunk and had the wires zip tied out of the way. Plugged those into the nav drive but still says unavailable on the command unit. Maybe it just needs programmed via STAR? Thanks in advance.

The orange fiber optic cable is underneath the plastic cover that covers the cable channel NOT beneath B-Pillar.

Yes you have to version code your MOST ring to and CI.

Sorry for digging old treat.
I found in a trunk set of connectors, I'm not sure is this for navi unit? If yes, what else needs to be done to make navigation works? Thanks!

1 is GPS connector, one end going to the roof while another end with all set of wire (2,3,4 and 5) going somewhere to the front of the car, so blue connector not from GPS or it has a splitter in a front? And just curious what for cable 5?

Yes, those connect to the nav drive. #5 goes to the antenna splitter up higher attached near the c-pillar. Don't forget you need to complete the fiber optic loop under the door sill area as well.

You need an antenna splitter, mounting bracket, base bracket, nut, screw, new trunk panel.

sound interruptions

I installed, everything works, thanks for helping me! But I got some issue. Sometimes sound is interrupted for about 2-3 second and next continue again normally. Doesn't matter I listening MP3 or radio. Also when in navigation mode and sound being interrupted, I see on screen map hangs and thereafter route is recalculated.
My car from 2004, navy unit comes from 2006 E-class. Both Comand and Nav drive is up to date. Where needs to dig? Fiber optic not kinked, I watched this, problem with nav drive or just needs version coding? Thanks!

Could be a damaged graphics chip on the COMAND front panel's display. Had one like that a few months ago on someone's COMAND after we retrofitted navigation system.

But how I can damaged it, I even didn't touch a Comand at all and before retrofit all was good. Also I noticed navigation didn't always start, I see just spinning circle. Needs to reload DVD disk or sometimes help turn ignition and comand off and back on. But this I think related to my bad copy of original disk (I have both and original disk doesn't read at all)

You didn't damage it. The device is old and it might go bad. Electronic components do get bad believe it or not. And the same symptoms we had with another COMAND a few months ago. He bought a new (used) one off of eBay, replaced it and problem was solved. You don't have to believe me nor do I say I'm 100% correct with my suggestion of what could be wrong but I'm pretty sure.

How do you determine that this is a graphic chip? I'm asking because instead of buying an expensive Comand I can replace just the chip, I have some skills and equipment. Also I would like to tell that the sound is interrupted each 6 min exact! Is this GPU behaviour? Thanks!

Hi, I have 03 E500 with Audio50. Today I just plugged in Navigation Screen, and it is working fine but no navigation because i didn't connect DVD drive. But i have few questions:

1. What is second plug on navigation screen next to optic connector? What i should plug there?

2. In menu it shows AUX. what should i do and which parts do i need to make it work?

Check your clove compartment upper edge! There is a 3.5 mm connector. Plug audio source in and press aux soft button on COMAND to change to aux source.

Sounds like he needs to install the aux cable first. They aren't pre-intalled for cars with Audio 50, IIRC. I had to add it to my car when I swapped an Audio 50 for a COMAND.

Sorry but you're plain and simple lazy: it took me less than 3 seconds to find pictures, part numbers and instructions of how to retrofit it using good 'ol google!
