Any iPod kit update?
It's driving me nuts. I bought my E350 in late April - they promised the iPod kit would be available in June - then July - then the first week in August and no one kows anything. Anyone have info?

one of the 3 dealers here in Phoenix, told me, and I can't confirm if it's true, that the ipod for the W211 is nixed for the US. IF that is true, contact Steve (MBenzNL) and have him get you one $250.

Nothing MB related (sorry)
Yeah, except that MBenzNL is waiting for his (backordered) W211 iPod kits as well... And our (Euro) dealership told us September.

A few weeks ago my dealer in Atlanta emailed me the kit would be available in early August. I just did a follow-up and was told it's delayed until end of August.

My Ipod kit was installed in my E-class last Friday. The kit is the original Ipod kit from Mercedes. The installation took half a day, as it involved a cable kit to be installed from back of the car to the glove box. My car was produced October 2003, and it works fantastic. The only requirement is a COMAND unit and an AUX port in the glove box. After installing, the AUX jack in the glove compartment could not be used anymore.
The kit:
One black interface box
A cable kit with four connectors in one end. One going to the Ipod, one to the CAN bus (on the passenger side A-pillar), one to the AUX input behind the COMAND, and one to the interface box.
In the other end of the cable kit, the cables are connected to the fuse box (Fuse and relais comes with the kit), and two cables to the AGW (Auto Gate Way).
If you have any other questions, do not hesitate....
ps. EU and US kits are not the same!

On some papers that came with the kit, I saw two different part numbers, one for EU and one for US.

You've probably all seen pictures already, but in case someone hasn't, here's a (bad) picture of one installed in a new R-Class that I saw today. Sorry, no pictures of the interface as I had no ipod and vehicle was off.

Sorry if this is old news, but I just inquired at my dealer about the iPod dock kit for the 2005/6 E Class. Not yet, maybe a month he says. But, the kit for the C-Class was just released. This must be rocket science.

I just ordered my iPod kit from my dealer today for my 2006 CLS 55. Its arriving next week. I will believe it when it arrives and installed. Yes, COMMAND is not necessary as the COMMAND will not display the songs, only the dash unit will (according to member"W210")

Ipod Kit?
What price quote is anyone hearing? My SA spent some time looking for the kit for the 2005 E500 and said he could not get a part number. Said the price would be $400 to $500 plus installation (no estimate). He is very helpful and otherwise very effective but on this not much help.

Give the above part number to your SA, as far as I know they're still on backorder.

Got a quote of $299 for the kit plus $220 in labor for the install. I'm still thinking about doing it, as I use the IPod a lot on my E55 and it would be cool to control the songs from the dash as opposed to switching manually.
