HELP !! Tough Water Spots on Black E class, Anybody have this problem ?

I have a 05 E class black with close to 6k miles on it, its been through couple rainy days, I have recently notice that there are tough water spot that I cannot get rid of even with polish, wax, clay ...... upon closer inspection, many of the water spots have appear to settle beneth the clear coat (under surface water spots), especially the hood area.

is there a way to get rid of it ?? anybody have this same problem on their black car ?

I also have a 2000 E & 2000 CLK that doesn't have this kind of paint problem, could it be due to MB's new scratch resistent clearcoat that they apply to newer cars ?

looks like one member is having the same exact problem

I'd try Meguiar's Scratch-X first. Apply by hand. You may have to go over it multiple times.

Works pretty well on bird droppings too.

Did you try 3M handglaze? It is very mild. Whatever you do, be careful.

BTW, I just put in an order for a water de-ionizer for washing my cars and windows. I am getting sick of water spots as soon as I wash my cars.

I had the exact problem you have. My stupid a$$ neighbor showered my black E500 with his lawn sprinkler for a couple hot days while I was out of town. I clayed the area and then used Meguires #83 with a porter cable random orbit buffer and polishing pad. Followed it up with a coat of NXT wax. Hope this helps.

The key is to clean it off before it eats through the clear coat. Either way. the damage is done. DO NOT LET IT SIT!! Best to catch it as it is drying.
