Cracked tail lights, where to buy parts?

I cracked one of the rear tail lights, seems just the outer cover is cracked but the housing is not damaged. Is there a way to buy just that outer cover? Where besides the dealer can I find one?

But those are the entire housing, I was hoping to find a place that sells the outer casing (Red colored area) only, I can almost peel off the broken plastic and reveal the housing assembly. It seems like it's a snap on cover.

Oh great, it stated to thunder and rain outside as I am typing now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the tail lights a sealed system???? Meaning they can't be separated.... I believe they are gas filled...

I thought so too, until today....

The outer cover that's red can be peeled off now that it's cracked. Seems like it's just a snap on cover too, I've snaped it back and it stayed in place with just the crack line showing.

A girl in X5 backed into me as we are backing out of the parking lot. I got a cracked tail light and only damage she got was a scrached up bumper.

Come to think of it, if it was an American POS truck I would be replacing my trunk lid instead of $400 tail lamps. It just pissed me off that over sized trucks and suv can be in the same parking lot as everyone else.

HOH is correct. The lights are sealed with an argon gas I think, and even the bulbs cant be replaced lol. Looks like your gonna have to make a trip down to your dealer Dvinn. Might be a great time to upgrade to the LED tailights if you dont have them. Its only about $300 for both I think or something like that.

I would if I know one....

I've just tested the tail lamps and all lights, brake, driving and signal bulbs are working.

On a second thought....is there a type of glue out there that can seal plastics and conceal the crack lines?

Even if there is a glue of some sort, I would not go with it since it will fail over a period of time, and might cause premature bulb failure if water gets through the crack over time. Best bet is to replace the assembly. It really takes just a few minutes.

I have a set of rear tails for my W211 (mint condition). I upgraded them out to the LED avantagarde assembly. If you are interested make me an offer.

I installed them myself, you can't do a patch job with these things. If it is cracked, you have to remove the whole assembly and replace. 10 minute job on each side.

Well...I broke down and ordered a set from Ebay. The lights won't get here in a few days and it's pouring outside, I might have to claim electrical warranty soon.

Good thing...not worth the repair. It probably wouldn't come out right and you'll have condensation problems. There are plenty of them that show-up on Ebay for a steal. Many have upgraded to LED. BTW SUVs and trucks **** me off too sometimes but don't blame the vehicle, blame the driver. My opinion is women shouldn't be allowed to drive SUVs. Or at least be backing up in them. That would prevent a lot. Let me guess...She must have been yapping on a cell-phone when she hit you too right? I hope at least if you didn't call insurance that you caught that girl to give you at least $500.
