Dealer quote for changing pads - 375 per corner + hr labor to disable SBC

Just wanted to get an idea of how much of a rip-off that is. Have you all paid more, less, or the same for changing pads on ur 211's.

I get the feeling this is on the steep side. No other car I've owned has been this expensive just for pads. The parts should be no more than 250-400, so they are charging 800 in labor? Does it really take an hour to disable SBC (I'd think it would just be a quick command via Star Diagnostics).

Also, if anyone has any good recomendations for indy shops in the DC area that can handle this job, pelase let me know.

Thanks in advance.

take your car to Fairfax Service Center http://www.fairfaxservicecenter.com/
and ask for Reese Sherbaf. Reese is a certified Benz mechanic and has owned and operated FSC for over 25 years.
I take my CLK for service and work. Good prices and very respectable gentlemen, unlike any stealerships out there. Good luck. drop me a note, if you need any questions.

OEM brake pads for an 05 C320 are $84 front and $56 rear. Total pads for car should cost around $140. So you're saying MB wants to charge you $1,500 for just the pads??? Yeah, $1,360 to disable SBC and labor seems rather high, even if it included rotors.

For everyone elses benefit, which dealer did you go to?

Have you read the DIY thread on changing brakes?

If you're not a DIY'er, and decide to entrust your baby to a third party, consider writing a review and let us know how it goes.

i was charged about 1300 for my rotors and pads, i *****ed that the rotors had been squeeling since 8K miles and they knocked off 300.00

Welcome to the world of MB. Labor in NYC is high so im sure that didnt help.
My last car was a clk 430 and the pads up front were 275.00

This quote was from HBL...
I was actually quoted about 1200 for pads by American Service Center when I took the car in for an SBC failure and they denied it ever happened and claimed the problem was that I needed new pads. The jerkoff service manager over at ASC wanted to charge me for the towing and the "Brake inspection" that SOB... not too many options for decent dealers in the DC area, unfourtunately

thanks. I can't believe the amount my dealers are trying to charge for this job. People said you were getting gouged when you got charged $630 for the job. These guys are asking 2-3 times that amount...??

Almost an order of magnitude more than you should be paying..

more like $100 per wheel hub.. inclusive of parts.

That's really funny! That's exactly how I feel about SBC also. It offers NO advange over regular brakes

say what you want about the added cost, and the reliability, but it DOES INDEED over many advantages..

read here: http://www.whnet.com/4x4/sbc.html

don't get swept up in the SBC debate so much that you fail to read and understand the advantages it does have.
