Another one for the garage

Ok, pulled the trigger on another E, this time around it is an '04 E500 Wagon, black and tan, for the wife (no, I'm not allowed to call it the xmas present ). Will pick if up tomorrow (with luck), it has more toys then mine (nav, tire pressure, ventilated/dynamic seats, power hatch, etc) but I have the sport/appearance package! I've been lucky with my '03 but still wonder if I'm taunting the fates Just wish I could get a CDI wagon...perhaps in a few years if they bring them as '07 models.

Happy Solstice!

DS-The '03 is Midnight Blue/ash with the appearance package black birdseye, black on white gauges and brushed aluminum trim.

Hope you have had luck with your '04.

Yeah, it has been pretty good. Not too many glitches, dealer has been great.

Thumbs down Grrrrr. First trip with car and problems

I'll have to take some pics when I get back from CT. Although I'm not happy at the moment

Climate control system is wacked, long story but 80 miles in I realized it was pumping hot air into the back seat, little heat from the front vents no matter what, could not drop the temp in the back with reaching back and trying to lower the controls, the COMAND overheated and shut down.

I had not radio/CD/nav/etc for at least half the trip. Only got them back by shutting down the climate control for an hour allowing COMAND to cool off to a point it would boot (prior it showed the logo and just shut off). Then had to finish the right cycling the climate control on and off, enough to heat the cabin a bit (with the air circulating from the back seat) but not enough for COMAND to overheat.

After cycling the car a couple of times I *think* I may have some heat in the front but get this, with both controls in the back set for 71 degrees one side blows warm air, the other cool.

My big concern is the overheated COMAND. I'll want them to replace the unit but I imagine it will be a battle since it works once cooled down.

Oh, and the passenger front door squeaks badly.

Thanks. So btw, what made you get rid of the E55 so quickly? Dealer just took in an '04 in Black Opel when I was there...my what a nice color, looks some what sinister. I was seriously considering taking it for a test drive but the reason I bought my '03 500 was after making the mistake of driving one in addition to the 320.

Family + business needs of a bigger transportation.

I took delivery back in October of '03, so it's been a bit over 2 years, actually. You made a fine choice. Can't go wrong with an E-class... for the most part.

Sorry for your troubles. At least you have warranty+factory maintenance. Any dealer should be able to cure these issues now. Let's see the pix!

The BMW does not have the 3rd row seat. I use mine all the time - making it a 7 person hauler in minutes.

Because the S211 is just the best looking wagon out there.......

http://web1.berlin205.server4free.de...e/S211_09.html

OK, just a fraction short of the W211 being the best looking 4 door sedan on the road
