Does Anyone know the TSB describing the IPod install for MY04 cars?

I have an '04 W211, (COMAND with aux) according to the MB web page the 04s will work fine with the Ipod kit.

I called the dealer for a price, got a big "huh?" they claim the 04 won't work despite what MB says. (No, they haven't tried it, they just say, they've never heard of it so it won't work... Sigh) Is there a TSB I can have them look up?

From what I have been led to believe the I Pod kit will only work in an 05 and newer.

Actually they called me back. After some research they agree it can be done. They'll use the book time as a base; but are warning me there might be additional work, they're just not sure (up to 4 hours total). In case some wiring isn't there.

I believe that if they read the info on the kit it specifically says 05 and newer. But, let them try. The install on mine took in actual time almost 8 man hours as there were wires that had to be run from front to back. They had quoted me an hour and a half per the kit info and they stuck to that as so far as my bill was concerned. But the kit is great, a really neat option.

The E kit comes with all the wiring, relays and fuses needed. So they did it before eh ?

do a SEARCH - there are plenty of 2004 and EVEN 2003 E-classes here on this forum that had an Ipod kit installed - same deal as on any 2005 and 2006 - NOTHING DIFFERENT (unless one has a 2003 W211 with an audio 50 - which you, with the 2004, do not have to be concerned about).

greetingz,
That is definietely correct.

Of course they didn't know about the TSB for it, because there is not one. It is listed online but not under the typical installation area on netstar. Looks pretty involved to me, I'd say 4 hours is a little underestimated. Unless you had done about 5 of them in a row already.

The ipod kit should be able to be installed in about 2-3 hours if the tech knows what they are doing.
