Heated seats in rear?

I've got heated seats ordered for my E320. It looks like, at least onsome European models, there are controls for setting the rear seat heat as well. Does anyone know if this is an option or how to get it?

Also, what about 'auxillary heaters' - does that refer to something to do with diesels?

Thanks

Rear seat heating is an option, code# 872.

It can only be ordered in conjuction with either heated front seats or the luxury front seats package (heated and ventilated) options and only with leather trim.

Auxillary heating is an option that allows the heater in the car to be programed, for example to heat up before you get into the car in the morning, etc.
It is located next to the transmission shifter.

I don't know the code# but it has nothing to do with the cars engine and thus can be ordered on both the 320 and 500.

Callaway - thanks a lot.

Interesting. When I ordered my E320 the only option I had was for 873 (heated front seats) or 401 (active ventilated front seats). I don't have options for either 872 or auxillary heat. The dealer also had me sit down with them and run through the various options directly on the computer that they use to order the vehicles. Perhaps those options were not yet known? I don't have a full brochure yet and hopefully there will be some more info there.

You can get heated rear seats on the E? That must be something added recently, because heated rear seats isn't mentioned anywhere.

Not that I don't believe you.......but can anyone else back up this info.

Well, here is the link to the online owners manual from the Enlgish version of MB Germany. If you select 'Controls in Detail' and then choose 'seats' and go to page 9 of that section, there is a photo of the rear seat heat control.

http://www.mercedes-benz.com/e/cars/...bid_sitze.html

It could be that this is only offered in Europe.

I knew it was a Euro option........but the way you made it sound was that it was available in the U.S., which it is not.

the heated seats is a option in euro only. I have the parts in my EPC to verify this. The auxillary heater is made by webasto and is available only in the coldest parts of the world. Its a small burner unit and consumes very little fuel and heats the radiator fluid up and circulates it with a small pump. The cabin fan turns on as well to heat the interior. There is a seperate switch for it on the right of the shifter and a seperate remote also. I have the whole system and ready to install in my C class

I live in the Washington, DC (USA) area and recently (January) saw an e320 with heated rear seats at the Arlington, Va Mercedes dealership.. it was actually listed as an option on the Window sticker (can't remember the price, nor the code).

Rumor has it that if you get your dealer to schmooze mbusa, they can get stuff like rear heated seats special ordered. Another unknown feature is getting a non standard paint color, but it has to be available at the factory, just on another model. Like you could get an S class color because they are built in the same factory.
