Can my 2003 E320 play MP3s?

I have a 2003 E320 with the radio(Command?) with the single CD and tape player plus a 6 disk cd player. I do not have NAV. I have read that some Command units can be upgraded to play MP3s. Can mine?

You have the Audio 50 head unit (CD & cassette) which I understand cannot be upgraded. COMAND reference is for the navigation compatible head unit with a single CD player, larger screen, and no cassette player of which the software can be upgraded. However, you can replace your current 6 disk CD changer (CDC) with a newer MB CDC that will play MP3s.

Hmmm... I have a 2004 E320 with Audio 50 and my stealer swears up and down that it is NOT compatible with the newer MP3-CDCs. Can anyone out there confirm from experience that my dealer is 100% wrong in this regard?

MBUSA discontinued Audio50 and replaced it with COMAND in 04.

Anyway, unless I’m missing something, according to this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/138906-audio50-aps.html#post1494514 , you should be able to. Contact Steve for definitive info: s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com

Crap upon crap.... I've got D2B instead of MOST? How can I confirm which version I have? Is there a specific build date when this change occured? How can I find my build date out?

And to confirm, I am driving a Canadian 2004 model with Audio 50.

One more reason to regret buying this thing?

Check the sticker when you open the driver door, lower right for build date. Steve should be able to give you the part # for the replacement CDC – and do the install if necessary.

I’m not an expert, and I reiterate you should email Steve (he is), but you should have MOST, and not D2B. Now then, as I understand it a newer MP3 capable CDC (maybe not the newest available) can be retrofitted in place of your current CDC and will work properly. Sorry for the confusion, hope this clears it up a bit.
