Wife's 2007 E550 is here!

Finally, picked up the 07' E550 two days ago... haggled til midnight, only got $1500 off MSRP... I was too tired to hold out for a better price... Guys, do the negotiations after a good meal and good rest... I was nodding not because I agreed, but because I was dozing off... had a long day at work already!
OK, the specs:
2007 E550, iridium silver with charcoal interior, black burl trim
sports package (18" wheels, different fog lights...etc)
Premium package 02 (DVD nav, sirius satellite radio, harmon kardon sound system with 7 CD (1+6) in dash)
electronic trunk closer
for details on the sports package and the P02 package, go to MBUSA.com, I don't remember all the details...
got the extended warranty, Lo Jack, and ding protection. Bought the car, not a lease so gotta have the warranty and paint protection.
first impression, handles a lot tighter than the old E500 (last was an 03 E500), interior much nicer looking with the white instrument panel. Only complaint so far, non-SBC brakes make funny piston noise at the brake pedal when depressed... will see if others with 07's have this sound.. if not, I am taking it in to get it fixed. That fin on the roof for Teleaid and satellite radio is ugly... Will get the windows tinted this weekend, wife can't stand sun... she's a pale Asian woman.. haha!

This is stock, look forward to any mods and aero kits for the new E on the forum!

I say get your money back on LoJack, we already have tele-aid.

Other than that great car and congrats, did you check out other dealers besides HOI?

I'm getting serious buyers remorse here. Your location looks familiar. Atrium???

Wow that looks great! I really like the Sport Package. I was debating if I should get the electronic trunk closer. Was that option worth it? (sorry for asking, I know it has only been a few days since you picked it up)

I personally prefer that body colored fin on your roof instead of the black one the previous years have.

thanks for the comments. TeleAid, never bothered to activate that thing... too lazy. How much is it anyway? I called around to Caliber and Long Beach MB dealers, LB gave me the best deal, but had to wait for 2 months... Caliber had something close... wife wanted the trunk closer, have to wait one or more months... HOI had the car because we ordered it the way she wanted... so... keep the wife happy is priceless...
In the future, I will get the car price negotiated before I order the car, and will not use MB financial... they gave me crappy rate... don't matter, I'll just pay it off early so they don't make any interest off of me. As for the fin, the other one was ugly too... why can't they hide it under the vents in the hood like in some aftermarket SL's... or give it a little antenna like the SL? I am not an engineer, it may not be possible but the fin is not that good looking... and we live in L.A., where is Atrium?
oh, as for the trunk closer, wife will like it, grocery shopping or going to South Coast Plaza and shopped one too many bags.. one hit on the button and it will close!

Mercedes sure has made the interior much better looking from a quality point of view. I swear they changed more than what they've disclosed. The fit looks to be much better too.

While this is true, if the thieves decide to rip off the GPS antenna then tele-aid won't do you any good, the tracking is pretty much useless. LoJack has their own transponder hidden inside the car somewhere where even the owner doesn't know where it is. Its a better piece of mind than the tele-aid IMO.

Great car btw!

Lojack vs Teleaid

I would stay with Lojack,, Teleaid gave me very poor service during Katrina when we had an accident in the disaster area . Took me about 30 minutes to get a response after we have been in a collision. Guess if the airbag had deployed they might have ansered, but the collision was from the rear with no bag deployment and no insurance on the other car. Jim

Buyers remorse because I should have at least got an E500 or waited for the newer models. I don't even want to think about it anymore.
Oh well. Sorry the houses around you look similar to my neighborhood so I thought you were in San Diego. Yeah no fin is better than improved fin appearance. Just hate that little black one most w211's have. TeleAid was $240/year free for first year though if you opt to activate it at time of purchase. Both Lojack and TEleaid would be useful if the airbags deploy on your face.

I have had the opposite service from Tele-Aid. They are quite prompt and corteous.

One of the local dealers suggested that I order the car and when it came in, we'd work out a price depending upon what was then "market." Yea, right. When you do that, the dealer's "gotcha." You've ordered a car, waited for it, and when you go to see it it's all shiny and new and waiting for you to drive off the lot. You're now invested in that particular car sitting there with your name on it. That's when the dealer has you, and he'll get a higher price than if you had negotiated the price up front and were ready to walk off the lot and go investigate the next guy's deal.

The best deals I've gotten was when I walked out the door and the dealer's refusal to budge was converted into the prospect of a lost sale. It's amazing to see it, but it works almost all the time. If your initial offer was low but close to reasonable, you can generally make the deal you want. But you have to be ready to walk away; when the dealer senses you're not, they have you.

I negotiated my BlueTec deal up front, and got a better price than I thought I'd get. Old addage is you don't get it if you don't ask for it.
