Can an E500 break the wheels loose?

I was at a small dealer open house last night with a number of local AMG owners. Well since my ML55 is in rough shape, I took my E500... so when it came time for me to burn off some miles on my E, it hiccupped and barely chirped a tire...

First, sport, ESP off... not even a blink of ESP... How should I launch it to get em to bake if I wanted to? Power brake?

In my very limited (ahem) experience with such things, the E500 will break traction with the ESP either on or off, the difference being whether it deposits two short strips of rubber or one long one.

What the hell?
No.
You should be able to turn of ESP and powerbrake to get loose VERY easily.

Fanatic,
Try ESP off and powerbreak it if it does anything. On my CLK350, with ESP off, stomped on the gas and I got a quick few seconds wheel spin off the line. I can't imagine yours couldn't do it.

Did you can get the infamous E55 power reducing flash from dealer thus you couldn't break them loose? lolz, J/K! If your car is broken in, rev the hell out of it to get what you desired.

I'm rather new to my E500 and the MB Forum, but I thought I remember reading that you can reflash the trans? Possibly do that?

Too bad you haven't tried the 06 Z06 or you could wait for the Z07.

But what the heck the C6 won the Le Mans 5 of the past 6 years,, but then after all you did say American cars were a POS even if they beat the Aston's that could not take the heat of the day. My guess is not too bad for a POS. But then I can break the tires on my C5 easily and on my wife's E500 also. But I prefer to wear them out vs. leaving in in one spot on the pavement. Have a nice day. Jim

I was wondering the same thing with the SL...I've floored it from a stand still with ESP Off...theres some chirping at launch but nothing special....I've been thinking about how to do a burnout while staying in one place...also how would i rev my engine to high rpms and then floor it...go from Neutral to Drive as soon as ive rev'd the car up ?

Wait....

In our cars, if you hit the brake and gas together (power brake) doesn't the computer kill the throttle? I've never done it, but I thought I read somewhere on here that's what happens. I don't know...what the hell do I know.

Yes, you can not accelerate and brake at the same time in a brake/drive by wire.

If you want your wheels to spin, go buy the worst tires possible.
