3M clear plastic film or similar?

anybody have a good source or option for a clear plastic type product that I can use on the top part of my rear bumper on my wagon? I have seen the 3M 8mm product on the web (mostly used for front end clear bras).. in the past I have had sheets of the film and used it on certain parts of my motorcycles...

maybe 42 x 6 inches... to trip down to match the angles of the car.. my dog is going to make a mess of the paint.

I had the same problem with my wagon...my dog and my daughter both scuff up the bumper...My wagon is white and I bought some white "non skid" tape from my local boat store...I made a template to match the contours and cut it...Looks good and provides a "non skid" surface...

Thy also have it in clear...

Total cost was about $15.

I like your idea.. though, white might not work for me...

I kind of thought that it could be interesting to have an aluminum plate that covered over the edge.. similar to a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.... (my car is silver.. and it would look good and functional)

I don't have a wagon, but I had the dealer put the regular 3M clear bra material on the top of the rear bumper. So far it has worked very well and has taken a lot of abuse from sharp items such as skies quite well.

This is just my personal experience with it,

Steve

Most people sell kits but you can buy rolls of the material and custom cut pieces. Here are some links...

Glad to see i'm in good company. Just bought my ML and already have a few scratches on top of the bumper (black opal). Been dropping a sheet over the top, but sometimes she jumps out before I can do that. Performance products has a vinyl roll-out cover that would drape down, but of course you have to futz with it every time. The clear material might be the solution that would be the most practical. Don't need to rely on anyone else to do it when I'm not around, either. Just picked up my Husky cargo mat today. Dealer has ML to check out a couple things. Were supposed to install trailer hitch, but found out it is no longer avail. Need to go aftermarket now. What we do for our dogs!

Try clearbra.com for the 3M film

I Have K9Cover.com covers in my Wagon and sedan they Custom make a FULL cover that covers the complete rear area floor/seats/carpets/front seat backs and door panels. It Comes in sections so one can use the rear Only cover or the Complete cover.
as we take our Rotts to work daily and this works..BTW it is waterproof!

IF You Need a OE Mercedes ML Hitch PM Me as I Have One from our EX ML

The problem with the 3M clear film or something similar to it, is the removal of the film should you plan to do it later for whatever reasons. The film is not easily removed. Some time back I thought about buying it for my daily drive, G35X, I did not do it because of the difficulty to remove it. Some people may not like it when you it's time to sell your car.
