I am in the market for a E500. I could buy this from a friend.

No, but that sounds like a fair price to me. JD Powers & Associates has a good used car pricing system that you should look at to make sure. Unfortunately, it sounds like it is just out of warranty so your friend cannot buy an extended one that he could probably transfer to you.

That's relatively a lot of miles, and as someone pointed out, the car is not under warranty. A warning light somewhere can cost you a lot. I don't recommend that you pay more than $32-32.5Kfor that vehicle. After buying it, spend about another $3-4K on a comprehensive warranty. This would bring the total price you pay to around 35-36K with the peace of mind of having a good warranty. Stay below $32.5 and you are fine. If they won't sell it at that, move on and you'll likely find something similar. That car is still depreciating about $400-500 a month!
