Drove the E500 at the Mercedes California E-Motion Event. WOW!

Wassup everyone.

I went on Sat..to the Mercedes E-motion event, highlighting the launch of their new Eclass and got to drive the new E320 and E500.

MY response is WOW!

The E500 is an AWESOME car.
I got to drive it around a text track of cones and was totally impressed.

First of tall, the shape of the car is contoured and MUCH sexier than the previous one. Even in stock form, the car is low in stance and very nice looking.

Off the line, the car rockets forward and even spins it's tires cuz of all the thrust. Lot of torque and seeminly endless but SMOOTH thurst.

The electronic braking is INCREDIBLY strong and took some getting used to. I'm used to soft mushy lexus breaks that take some pressure to kick in. Just a TAP on theses electric brakes and the E500 stops instantly. Scarey good!

Cornering was smooth w/NO body roll and the suspension was smooth over rough terrain.

The interior is top notch and much better than previous year S-classes even. Soft perforated leather, rich upholstery.

Man..but mostly it's the ENGINE!

IF the E500 is this nimble..just IMAGINE the AMG E55!

IT's a wonderful car. Mercedes is really doing some amazing things these days.

Whoever owns these cars...you're really fortunate. Enjoy it!

glad you liked the E500! i agree, its a nice car to get around with and does not get many looks after the first 2 weeks, but that's all the better.

how's your SC400?? i believe that the Lexus interior is someone superior to MB's. fit and finish is better, but then again their brakes aren't my favourite..very far reach and mushy as you said.

SC400 is great. =)

The SC400 interior is ergonomic and nicer than MB cars of the same year (93), but the current series of MB cars have REALLY stepped up the interior dept.

Yeah, japanese luxury cars have mushy brakes...unlike MB and Bimmer.

But for longevity, they really are worth the mushy brakes =)

I drove the E500 at the MB E-Motion here in southern cali. But after driving the car very hard when my drive was over they made an anouncement saying don't abuse the car!!!?!? Guess they saw how i was driving and thought that i was a pro or somethin?!?

Yes, I also was disappointed numerous warnings do not drive it hard, in comparison to my dealer encouraged me to drive hard. Make it scream - he told me, but I couldn't.

I made the car SCREAM! =)

I made the car spin it's tires each time I launched it and also through the corners. Some people hit the cones. Not sure HOW they did that..but they must've really sucked. =)

How does the break-in period relate to what your dealer is telling you to do? Maybe it will not be a good idea buying the cars that have been test driven.

I also had worry about break in period. Actually, I think that a manufacturer does quality tests all cars including pushing them to high RPM for short time. It shouldn't be affected on break in period unless you do such treatment all time. And I think that people who worry about that are trying to order cars and assure with a dealer that nobody will drive this car upon delivery, but unloading from a truck.
