$5K Cash to Dealers on 2007 E550's

Check edmunds.com for Incentives. Trying to find one might be difficult but the 08's are going up in price and there isn't any difference. Get an '07 at a great price and drive the wheels off it.

Thank you sir, you are a true gentleman.

Also Edmunds is reporting $3000.00 for incentives for the E350

So $5k on the E550s and $3k on the E350's. We are looking to get an 07 so what price do you think we should target? I would expect below invoice since the 08's are waiting right?

I would expect Invoice minus the trunk money (cash to dealer).

There isn't much left to choose from around here. One diesel and one E350 at the Tucson Mercedes dealership. He had quite a few cars not so long ago. 07's seem to be selling well here.

Bud, just wanted to say thanks because we picked up an 07 E550 today, P1 package, and even negotiated AMG wheels out of it. We wouldn't have gotten such a good deal and probably would have ended up with an E350 instead. Thanks a ton!

If I were to buy an 08 TODAY, seeing that there are absolutely
no changes, I would buy an 07 with the great discounts! So far
as “vanity satisfaction” in public, there’s no difference.

Of course, I haven’t seen my 08 yet, but NO ONE has reported
ANY change in them.

Hopefully I'll know this week if there is really NO change and I
will report it to you as soon as it arrives.

As you know, I also have an '08 on order and I do think there is some advantage to buying it over an '07. First of all and most important of all, we're getting just exactly what we want. Secondly, the resale value of the '08 will be better if we decide to buy a W212 when they show up and finally, the '08 will be fresh.

It won't have sat around in the Arizona heat for weeks, it won't have dirt where it's hard to clean and no one will have taken it for a test drive.

I'm hoping we get ours sometime between the 20th and the 23rd and I'm also assuming that if there are any changes they will only be engineering changes that we won't know about.

Now the question is whether or now the extra $3,700 we'll be paying for the '08 is really worth it. It is to us since we couldn't find an '07 we liked.

The '07 purchased with great discounts today, is a year older than the '08 which could have been purchased today too, so the '07 will be worth less when you sell, and will be of less interest to more shoppers at that time.

P.S. Someone look when thay get their '08. Did MB re activate the Tire Pressure Notification System in the USA cars?

This is about TPMS from the Tire Rack and I'm assuming that since all cars have to have direct TPMS by September, that both the '08 W211's and the '08 W204's will have it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tpms
Mercedes-Benz

An Update on Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems and Aftermarket Wheels

A direct tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) will be standard equipment on every vehicle sold in the U.S. after September, 2007. The criteria for TPMS standardization is that the vehicle must have only four wheels (no dual-wheeled trucks or motorcycles), and weigh less than 10,000 lbs.

Mercedes-Benz has used direct and indirect TPMS technology (see TPMS Facts below) since 2001. BERU and Siemens valve sensors, carried by The Tire Rack, are used in their direct TPMS. The size of the sensor shouldn’t be a problem for many wheels, but if the valve hole is in the middle of the wheel’s barrel, the sensor will not fit properly. Wheel manufacturers are aware of the issue and are rushing to get most of their wheels TPMS-compatible.

The Tire Rack's fitment specialists have carefully determined which wheels that are currently available will be compatible with the system installed on your vehicle.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :

If you have any questions about the wheel you're considering, call or post your question for confirmation that it will be compatible with your TPMS.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :

TPMS Facts

Direct TPMS use a sensor in the wheel/tire to wirelessly relay pressure back to the driver via a display inside the vehicle. Some vehicles have a digital screen that continuously shows all four tire pressures (five if spare has sensor). Others simply flash a "low tire pressure" light on the dash. Additionally, there are two different styles of sensors for a direct system: a valve sensor and a strap/band sensor. Only valve sensors are used on Mercedes-Benz direct system-equipped vehicles. If you bought an aftermarket SmarTire TPMS, its sensors are held on by a strap around the barrel of the wheel.

Indirect systems work in conjunction with the ABS wheel speed sensors that “count” the number of revolutions of each tire. If the right front tire is low (25psi) it will spin faster than the left front tire (35psi). The ABS system will recognize this change and alert the driver with a flashing light and possibly a loud chime. The Mercedes-Benz indirect systems do not affect the fitment of aftermarket wheels.

Are you saying MSRP less cash to dealer or dealer invoice less cash to dealer?

I am saying Invoice less cash to dealer. You never want to deal from MSRP at any time. Always start with the Invoice. If they won't show it to you, go to web sites like Edmunds.com and check the prices. It might not have some things like advertising fees that MBUSA tacks on but it will be a place to start.

Well if anyone is in the Bay Area, definitely take advantage of it. We were thinking on getting an E350 (P1 package is all we wanted) that was black/black or some other dark combo and instead got a 550 for way below invoice. The dealers still have a ton of 07 E's here and considering there are about 6 dealers in a 50mi radius, you probably can find what you want.

We are planning to buy it after the 3 year lease, so this is a good option for anyone that is thinking the same.

As per the "stealer," I chewed out this morning... MB Financial are changing their rates as of July 15th because of all the negative feedback they have received on new rates.

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/201083-per-stealer-lease-program-changes.html

Good luck

Oh well, at least we get to take the lower residual value in the future if the new W212 drops the value on the W211. Still got more than the car we wanted, so we are more than happy.

Good, I love those wheels. I think if everything works out, those are the wheels I will be putting on as well...

Are you ordering yours through the dealer. I am pretty sure members here have gotten the E63 wheel for about 2K with tires.

Congratulations on your new 550. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the E550 run w/o t&l and which dealer did you purchase it from?

They're actually the rims that come with the AMG sport package, not the E63 ones:

Good luck finding another 550 in the area though because this was the one of last two they had there in stock. However there are a ton of 350's still around. I'll PM you guy's the details on the cost.

What much is 'trunk money' on a E550?

Is $500 below invoice on a special order 2008 E550 nearly fully loaded a good deal then?

There is $5,000 cash to dealer trunk money on 2007's not 2008's. I'd say you got a good deal but things could get murky if you have a trade-in. There are a lot of pitfalls when you trade cars and the best thing to do is try to get what the Kelly Blue Book or the Black Book says it's worth on a trade-in. Of course the dealer doesn't have to give you that and may tell you that he can't sell your trade for what KBB says he can. You are now in a gray area where things aren't so black and white as they would be if you were just going to write a check for the full amount.

Obviously, the best thing to do is sell your car yourself. Otherwise, you'll just have to decide if the dealer is being fair with you on the trade.
