Wood Steering Wheel for 08 E550?
Just ordered an 08 E550 to replace my 05. As equipped from the factory the car does not have the wood/leather steering wheel, which I prefer. I asked the dealer to order it and he said that they were impossible to get -- he's got one customer waiting for 6 months. This guy has been very straight with me so I have no reason to think he's not telling the truth and why would they not want to sell and make a profit on it? My question is whether anyone knows a source -- its E550 so its Black Birdseye Maple in the new wheel configuration. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks.

I saw this wheel on Ebay Germany.
bidding has ended on it, but they have a few othere wheels. keep your eyes open on that site they seem to post steering wheels quite often.

hey where are you located that yu found a e550 stock in the states? I had to special order mine.. its commin in november.. it has the wood stering wheel in birds eye maple as well... you have yourself a wonderful car my friend! i cant wait to get it.. i dont even think ill take it out the garage.. i been looking for an every day car just so i can not get any swirls on that puppy

I picked up an "07 E550 4MATIC on July 17th, drove it for a day or two and returned it to the dealer to have it properly prepped and then left on vacation for a month. I asked to have a wood steering wheel (Birdseye Maple) installed while they had the car. They did not indicate any problems with availability and in fact emailed me a week or so ago and advised that they had completed all the requested work and the car was ready. I'll find out today or tomorrow for sure when I pick up the car but the dealer has not indicated any problem with finding a steering wheel.

Curious about what was wrong with your dealer prep? I have 08 ordered due in Oct/Nov and wondering what I should look for. Other than washing I intend to do the exterior prep myself but not sure what other things I should expect. I would think somewhere there is a checklist that dealers use on new car arrivals. Does anyone know what this is or where to find it?
