Unapproved bluetooth phones

07 Bluetec P2 package panaroma sunroof wood and leather steering wheel, keyless go
I currently use my samsung I730 with it and it works fine, except I cannot download the phone book nor does the caller ID work on the phone. I can place calll with the number pad and hand up using the steering wheel for most evryday usage it work and clearity is excellant. I am thinking about getting the new samsung I760 PPC phone but I don't know if it will work either and if it does not I probally won't get a new phone at all right now. 
Does anyone know if the I760 will work?

Ditto, on the Samsung SGH-C417. I think I'm going to go to the Razr when my term is up on this phone this spring. I love having the keypad on the dash, would be even better if it had the phone book!

I've used 5 non-approved phones with absolutely no problems what so ever. This is with the older V60 bluetooth puck

I use a Palm Treo 700P with Verizon service. The address/phone book does not download, but caller ID works. Signal strength shows up on the COMAND screen. And the sound and voice clarity are surprisingly amazing. Even my passengers sitting in the back, can participate on the conversation, and the person on the other end hear them with great clarity.
I haven't had any problems with it pairing up instantly upon entering the car.
Even though the address book does not download, the recently called and received calls, show up on those buttons. So you can scroll through and call your frequently called numbers that way.
On my previously owned Lexus IS350, the NAV would not allow you to dial a phone number on the keypad, while in motion. I'm happy that the MB allows you to dial while driving.

I have used a Bang & Olufsen Serene, which utilizes Samsung software.
What I found is that you should copy your phone contacts that are stored on your phone's memory to the SIM card in your phone, if they are not already on the SIM This may help you obtain better pairing with the COMAND, and thus better functionality. I did it, and I can now use the Multifunction Steering Wheel (MFS) features of selecting and dialing from the MFS those entries that have been copied to the cellphone SIM.
