Anyone ever dynoed their E500?
Probably gonna get mine dynoed next week. I'm having the resonator removed and the shop offered to do a pre and post dyno just to see what happens.
Just wondering if anyone has ever done one before on the E500 and if so, what gear did you do your dyno pull in? I know I have to put the car in dyno mode, which is easy enough, but beyond that I have no clue.
Anyone?

RE: Dyno Numbers
I would guess that your car with it's mods puts out around 330 HP at the crank, the ratio of rear wheel HP with an automatic trans is generally about 80% of that which in your case would be about 260 - 265 dyno hp at the wheels. There are also variations between Dynojet and Mustang dynos, Mustangs tend to give higher numbers. I always preferred Dynojets in my Corvette days. Tony's Corvette shop in Gaithersburg has excellent dyno facilities, but he is expensive.
Have fun, and let us know what she puts out.

I do the dyno thing a lot on my Harley since ive down lots of engine upgrades (heads, cams, bore, stroke, remap etc.). My advice would be to definitely get a before and after dyno, and do it on the same day under the same conditions. Also i would focus on the torque and not the HP since there is no real measurement for HP its based off of torque output. Also torque is harder to make without a displacement increase versus horsepower which can be increased easily by revving the motor higher, which is a waste in "real world" driving...

I've also Dynojet and Dynapack Dynamometer(before/after stage II heads/cam) on my Vette before. I remember it was 20% parasitic loss for the A4. I wonder what the % loss for the MB. I'm sure they will give you SAE Corrected numbers though. Keep us posted on the #.
BTW...you should ask for 3 pulls.

Had my 05 SL500 done, so it's probably comparable.

So, given the 18% drivetrain loss (I think that's what it is) your getting 286HP/295TQ at the crank. That's a bit lower than the 302/337 that MB rates the 500 engine at.
Did the shop give you SAE corrected numbers? If so, what were they?
**EDIT**
Looks like Vadim is saying that these cars should dyno at 245-255 at the wheels, so I guess the drive train zaps more than 18%

Looking at Vadim's post, it looks like an exhaust doesn't give you any gains...sounds awesome though.
Interested to see what your chip gives you! What does the manufacturer of the chip claim? Also, I used a
Dyno Dynamics machine....how does that compare to the other ones?

Had to go to Alabama for a family emergency so I missed my scheduled date. I have to reschedule and I'll report back.
