Xenon bulbs

I need a new set of bulbs for my car and wanted to ask the board if anyone know of a place that sells them at a reasonable price. This is D2S bulbs and I am looking for some 6000K bulbs.

Thanks,

OK, so I went to the dealer and they wanted $198/bulb. I mean, I like the guys but not that much! Next stop was my other parts place - NAPA. I looked at their website and they clam to have D2S bulbs for $85/bulb. Much better deal! I went there today and looked at the bulb and it is a Phillips D2S type 85122. Same bulb that is in the car now. So NAPA is about half price of the MB dealer, they are around the corner and I don't have to wait for DHL to deliver if I got them on the the net.

So if you are looking for new Xenon bulbs maybe NAPA is the place to go.

As a side note, when I was at the dealer they had to move the SLR they have on display..... Man, what a sweet sounding engine!

from memory (rushing to head out the door) i wouldn't have thought it was the
85122 that you needed, rather the 85122+....if you really wanted 6000ºK

I've heard some conflicting stories: does the higher the temp mean a brighter light, or is it just different color. Some say the brightest is 12000k(purple) then 8000k(blue), not 10000k(more blue).

Has enyone heard the same?

negative...

for the most part, the higher the ºK, the lower the lumens.

the bluer/purpler the color, the dimmer the light.

very roughly speaking, for every 1000º above 4000ºK, figure
on a 10% light loss

You are correct but looking at the prices for 6000K bulbs (+S/H) compared to what I had to pay at NAPA I can live with the lower temp bulbs.

i agree. pocketwise, it just doesnt make just cents [sic] to pay upwards of 2x
or more for less bright, but cooler (literally) looking bulbs. for folks who may
be shopping for OEM bulbs, 85122 generally go for about $60-90/pair, shipped
if you shop around on the Web. buy in pairs with eye towards matching lot
numbers to better your chances of color match on each side. otherwise you
risk having slight diff in hue.
