Thanks for the post. I certainly like what I am seeing. Back to the old way of making cars. Simple, Clean, Efficient. This very much reminds me of the W210. Real paddle shifters, COMAND controller, some very comfy looking seats.

I think we have a winner here gents/gals.

Certainly looks much better than the industrial looking spy shots from a few years ago.

Why is there a Navigation screen sitting on top of the dash but a COMAND unit sitting below the vents at the same time?

I like it a lot better than the spy picture that was posted a while ago. I will have to dig it up and post it.

I hope that the cup holders have a cover, they are ugly.

It also looks like the E-Class might have S-Class style ambient lighting, look how the wood juts out--could be concealing ambient light.

Great post, seems like they improve the interior but I hope the NAV and electronic features are better than the current E-Class models.

Well the nav is certainly going to be like the C/S/CL nav system which in my opinion is awesome and probably one of the best on the market. I also think that the new voice control is the best I've ever used.

There has been other stuff on the net about the car having a lot of new driving/saftey featuers. There is supposed to be some kind of driver altertness system, a lane depature system, and some kind of new ESP that prevents the car from being affected by cross winds. Sounds pretty good to me.

I really can't wait and see what AMG does with the new E class.

But there is only one COMAND screen, the other screen looks like HVAC readouts.

it looks like we have another winner...the only thing I'll miss is the shifter being on the center console. I don't like these new shift levers like the BMW's and Mercedes all seem to be getting these days.

Amazing everyone is loving the new E once we get real pics of the interior, not that photo shopped mess of a little while back. Why oh why do people not wait for the real thing to show it...saves on tune changing.

Hey, did you guys notice the back-up camera?

I couldn't get the image to link directly, so here's the website link. Look at image 7 (bottom left).

Looks nice, but if prefer the shifter down on the console, looks like they are putting a real arm rest back in the car...

Wow. Nuff said. Finally an E-Class with all of the toys and electronics it deserves. This model is going to destroy the value of existing W211s. My only complaint is the shifter but that is a small price to pay for a good NAV, voice recognition, true iPod integration, etc...

The 63 will probably be quite good but I am betting it will be even slower than the W211 63 due to higher weight. Just a guess though...

Looking at the cup holder area it looks like there is a slot that's possibly for a sliding cover.

Looks exactly like the (removable) cup holder in the current S-Class... I am sure there will be a sliding cover!

Love it. I know I'll get yelled at but it looks like the Audi A6 interior I loved. Screen up where you don't have to look down, better cupholder, real armrest, function control knob. I assume the shifter is behind the laptop? Or is it that stalk on the wheel?

The shifter is the stalk on the steering wheel.

The top half of the dash looks like it's made out of the same material of the dash on the W204. I don't like it.

W212 styling v's W211

It's too early to draw this conclusion.

While the new interior will likely be an improvement, the exterior remains a question mark for me.

The raised belt line, raised cowl, smaller windscreen and smaller rear window of the W212 all suggest less visibility for the driver and passengers. In addition, every spy photo that I have seen shows the rear headrests in a raised position. Does this mean the end of the tilting headrests ?

Not every "new" generation of E Class was necessarily an aesthetic improvement over the predecessor; for example, the frumpy styling of the W210 has not stood the test of time. Also consider what happened to the design of the current 5 Series; surely, one of the least attractive cars in its class and a retrograde design.

For the moment at least, the W212 remains probably the best looking car in its class, even six years after its introduction.

I would suggest that it's too soon to conclude from the camouflaged spy photos and photoshopped renderings if the next generation E Class will be an improved design over the W211.

It feels like the W210 dash. Clean, Simple, functional, and everything is within reach. I am loving it.

Strange that you say this. I think the 210 is still a great looking car for something that came out over 12 years ago, and was styled 14 years ago.

Id also say it looks far more modern than the extremely dated 124.

each car is an evolution of the design.

the 124 was the conclusion of one design, and the 210 was the beginning of another. From the spy shots I've seen, the 212 adopts some of the sharp creases of the 204, which is not a good thing, imho. However, if it gets the more aggressive front end, I think it will look nice.

The interior looks quite nice, but not as nice to me as the current CLS, which i think has the best sedan interior in the MB lineup.
