Some generic scanner misinterpret error codes because they go by the 571 universal OBD codes. I'm not sure what your scanner does but I can't find the exact code. And there are about 15 errors with the same explanation (without "yaw sensor" like in your text).
If you have the chance to get it read out with a SD post the error code as well.
Yea I'm talking about the front seat. The rear doesn't have seats. It's a bench
Your car is not one of the first. Yours is right in mid production right before facelift. I'm sure I'm right about the location. It takes 4 screws for the front passenger seat to remove. Unplug all cables and air hose if you have multicontour seats. Push the seat onto the rear bench and turn it so it won't fall forward.
Take the door sill off, take the gray weather strip like ring off, pull up the carpet and look underneath.
It takes not even 10 minutes to check in case you want to.
If you have the chance to get it read out with a SD post the error code as well.

I did just update the scanner software recently so I'll try again just to see if there might be any "better" info provided. I hate doing parts-swapping diagnostics, especially now that we're looking at a $200 sensor rather than a $15 switch.

I'm having this problem too. I got the white BRAKE message so i replaced the brake switch as the OP recommended but the error remained. I hooked up the car to STAR (very new to this) and got a message similar to this, but the SBC pump is relatively new (<2 years old). I'll hook the car back up to STAR when i have a chance and pull the exact error code, but do you have a suggestion? The SBC pump works as it should...as far as I can tell.

4CF1 Check component B24/15 (Rotary speed and lateral acceleration sensor)
4D41 Check component N49 (Steering angle sensor)
Both codes will clear but the 4CF1 immediately returns. I imagine 4D41 will eventually return.
I've also confirmed that the yaw sensor was replaced. In fact, two different sensors were tried with no changes.
Now that I'm getting the 4D41 error, is it time to replace the steering angle sensor?

Not necessarily. Cold weather can cause the metal to contract and the sensor pins lose contact with its counterpart. If the car is in cold weather conditions when it happens you can bring it to an Indy shop and explain it to them. They need to bend the contacts out more so they don't lose contact. I doubt MB will do this for you and they will only replace the sensor and charge you for it. I have seen plenty of cars where this very method saved them hundreds of dollars. Give it a try and report back for future people looking for an answer.

Just wanted to say thanks to Mackhack for all of the great posts. Many of us are going to deal with these same issues at some point and contained within this thread are the answers.

Remove airbag, remove steering wheel, remove steering wheel angle sensor assembly. Take a look at it and correct what you feel might be lose or could be lose.
Working with airbags, DISCONNECT ground lead of your battery in the trunk, remove the key and/or keep your Keyless-Go key or card away from the car (at least 15 feet).
Do so at your own risk of course.
If you need WIS documentation about this whole thing let me know and I'll post them.

And yes, even though the service manual tells you to disconnect power for almost everything, this is one of those project where you actually need to do it.

Here are the pdf files. Hope it helps someone. I didn't extract every single cross referenced one because some are just common sense steps or safety notes. If someone needs a specific one just reference the corresponding document number and I'll upload that one as well.

Thank you very much to the OP. This was the case with my car. Easy to diagnose by shorting/opening the switch/connector contacts to confirm problem.

Brake visit workshop
I have done everything from diagnosis to brake light switch to brake pads and rotors change and to no avail . Still remains Visit Workshop

Rotors have no sensors, hence this couldn’t have thrown a fault. The message also comes up if one of the ABS impulse sensors or wheel rotation sensors go out.
Let us know what it was.

I got the white "Service Brakes, Visit Workshop" message. An independent workshop did a scan (not STAR) told me it returned code C2131, faulty SBC pressure reservoir.
With it returning a specific code like this, is there any chance that it could be just a faulty switch?
Note: I learned about the extended warranty on the SBC pump and contacted Mercedes-Benz. They told me that I had missed the extended warranty period by about a 18 months, and they declined to provide any warranty repairs.

For "Brake - Visit Workshop" that caused by faulty brake light switch, you actually do NOT require to reset by STAR.
When you replacing brake light switch, you DO, however, make sure the ping is pull all the way out before install it back to the socket, or the Error message will stay on.
Photo attached.
( when you bought the switch from MB, the ping is actually in its "lowest" position. Just pull it all the way up )
Hope this info might help some of you guys....

ABS impulse rings literally decay over time to dust and break and may even fall off, faulty speed sensors,...
Read out your fault memory with Star Diagnosis only and let us know what it shows and we can better help you.
