Its a matter of preference.
I find the lock chirping annoying. The world is noisy enough. Of course its all relative to where you live. We live in a very quiet place and I don't mind listening for the locks (which you can hear) or watching for the lights.
Downtown in the city it might be nice to hear that reassuring chirp and the noise pollution is irrelevant.
Some people use it as a "Hey look at my car" thing. Its pretty obvious, but if that's what you need go for it.

my local mb service center said it is illegal ???
I asked my local mb dealer/service center for switching to Norway settings but he told me it is illegal to do that because it violets the federal law ???
Of course, I would not force people to do an illegal thing. Is there a ferderal law that car has to be kept the original settings???
