how to you avoid the dead battery after you have a long vacation ?
Thanks
This probably is a good record -- one month. I will consider having longer vacation now.
Both you and Gethen mentioned that it will not be a problem for a new battery but my car battery is getting older after years while my vacation will not be shorter. Is there a long-term solution? I know I can always call MB roadside assistance for replacing a new battery free within my warranty.
which I did it before but I had to drive my car back to the service center to reset settings after replacing a new battery.

You are right for most of MB models but I just confirmed with my local dealer, the technician said the trickle charger does NOT apply for the new e models because there is a chip inside the car is not compatible with the current MB trickle charger.
and he suggested I disconnect my battery before I go to my vacation and synchronize both windows and roof after reconnect the battery.
I believe the trickle charger for new e is on the way, I definitely will get one after it is available. Does anyone when it is available and the part number?
Thanks.

I was told that I could disconnect the battery in the trunk as long as I want and I believe this is the one to provide the electricity power for start engine. The other one holds all memory setting, e.g. my memory seats, radio stations, etc. When I reconnect back the battery in the trunk, the only things that have to do is reset/synchorize windows and roof.
The way you resynchorize your windows (4 of them) is
after you reconnect battery, press window button down and hold it 3 seconds then press up. (you have to 4 of them)
for the roof, press open button then it will pop up and hold the button 3 seconds then you close it.
I hope MB comes out trickle charger for new e soon. I don't want to get a shock when I disconnect my battery in the trunk. By the way, after fully charge your car battery, you always get better lights and sound quality. especially, for those who drive car in a short trip daily. (it should be charged over night every 2 weeks or 1 month depends on how short your daily trip is and how you consume the power, e.g. heated seats, lights, etc.)

if it's a 2 week trip, i would keep the battery connected, lock the doors, but not enable the alarm. if you have your own garage, it should not pose a large security risk. the alarm uses up some battery (much more than the other stuff that it uses while shut down).
