New MXV4 stock tires. Completely kick ***.

In a previous thread MBNUT1 was talking about how he felt drumming/vibration in his car. The dealer told him to replace the tires.

Was completely true in my case. I had low drumming/vibration that was driving me nuts. Have 45k miles on my E320 -- And just replaced the original Michelins with a new set of MXV4s from Costco (buy 4 H-rated tires, get $60 off).

I've read all the Tire Rack and all different car forums (BMW, VW, Benz, Lexus) about all the conflicting opinions on Michelin (seems to always come down to price).

After reading endless reviews and posts, all I can say is I friggin love Michelins. This last replacement just reinforced why I always buy Michelins. I strayed and went for Bridgestone Potenza as well as Yokohama something-or-other... But it's the MXV4 that is completely satisfying, despite the price.

The ride is so quiet and smooth. Yes, the cornering isn't as good as some others, but I'm all about the quiet and smooth. Grips well enough for me.

Just posting this for all those that may be on the fence between paying a little bit of a premium for Michelins (which generally last longer anyway). I love Michelins!

I've had some miserable results with Bridgestone's in terms of noise, vibration and tracking and mixed results with Conti's. I too now stick with Michelins despite lower grip and price premium.

I've mostly used Michelins and Continentals. I had a look at the Michelin US web site and find the tyre selection pretty different. I cannot get an H-rated tyre for my car while it would be sufficient for the speed I drive. An H-rated tyre would be less noisy and would last longer. But the ones we have are better rated for grip, like most on the US site have A-class, our tyres are like this one from the US site, AA-rated:
http://www.michelinman.com/tires/lux...primacy/04365/

The lower speed rated tyres are also less expensive. Handling would still be sufficient for my taste and driving style, I wish we had the same selection available in Europe.

Michelin recently ran a large ad in the Wall Street Journal wherein they compared rolling resistance of a couple of their models to similar Bridgestone models. Performance of Michelins was significantly better, which means better fuel economy.

Me, I believe in "the power of M."

Michelin
Mobil 1

Most USA Mercedes are speed-limited to 130 mph making H-rated tires feasible. Mercedes learned its lesson here in the 1970s when all the R107/450SLs came with V-rated Michelins that were almost always replaced with Sears Roadhandler whitewalls. That is, Americans don't like the price of V-rated tires. Nor the mileage.

If you have 16 incher's be greatful cause they are a lot cheaper than my 245/45/17 which by the way you can't by MXV4 for. But I am happy with my MXM4's

The MXV4's do not work for me, if I wanted cadillac handling, I would have bought one.

M Pilot Primacy is as soft as I would go.

I have MXMV4's on my stock 17" wheels, which I use for winter driving. Outstanding tires.

I have continentals. They came almost new when I bought the car from Beverly Hills Benz. I've put on almost 17,000 miles in a little over a year, so it's time to change them.

My last car, a 2005 Chrysler 300, needed new ones every 14,000 miles. The ones that came stock were horrible. Noisy and everything (the car came with bad alignment off the lot. One of many reasons I will never buy anything Chrysler makes. The transmission started giving problems at 400 miles), so the guys at American Tire said to get the 235 instead of 225. Was way better.

I love the tires I have now, no complaints. Will definitely get the same kind again. I go through tires fast cause I do a lot of canyon driving where I live.

I'm a michelin man my self (no pun intended) but recently tried a set of TOYO Versado's tires after the Mich Primacy, the Toyo's are the hands down winner in handling, rain, and smooth riding. I only tried them because i could'nt find any Michelins in the size i wanted at the time. The TOYOs work very well on the Eclass
