Thinking of BULLETPROFING the ride....
Hey guys, i live in a volatile country, my parents are basically telling me to bulletproof my E, eather this, or bulletprofe the G class 3.6 brabus... but that G class consumes so much gasoline, that i really do not think its a wise choice...
my question...
you guys think the V6, 3.2 will withstand the added weight? would i **** up my ride? ride i love btw....
or , you guys think the G class is a way better car to do this on, i think its too unstable dough.... and damn does it swallow gas.. i think probably 13mpg right now...
any thoughts?
thanx guys...

Lots of
added weight,You could have gotten an E500 already bullet proofed.
Now it might be a good idea to have the window glass replaced and Kevlar panel installed in the doors etc.and run zero tires. That way you won't weigh it down and still insure a quick get a way
We wish you peace where ever you are located.

They sell GUARD versions of the E, G and S I believe.
It would make no sense to mod your existing car. You should buy the GUARD model and sell your current car.
There is also a Guard version of the Pullman S-Class Limo, and you may find preowned versions of MB GUARD models on Dupont Registry.

You will not like the performance of the vehicle with the V6 with any level of armoring. The protection you want is IAC level 3 which is small arms/small calibre which involves pulling the interior and lining the inside of the panels with composite ballistic materials and replacing the glass with ballistic glass. Usually at the same time some minimal protection is added for the engine compartment and fuel tank but that is optional. Finally runflats and/or ceramic inserts are added to the rims.
The weight that this adds is still pretty substancial which is why typically a V8 would be the minimum requirement to still have the vehicle perform. You do have the option of having the engine performance increased with somethin glike a supercharger to handle the extra weight.
For your needs the G is really going to be the better option for a few reasons: first, the vehicle offers better protection overall: thicker steel makes up the body plates, and the glass is smaller which allows for greater protection. Your are also better protected in an suv like the G because you sit higher which puts more of your profile behind the steel and less behind the glass (e.g. an attacker on would have to shoot higher to target you). The G also has much more torque which makes it easier to carry the weight of the added protection and it is better suited for defensive driving in an attack.
contrary to other opinions its not alwasy best to purchase a vehicle with protection as opposed to getting your own. In your locale there are a number of very good armoring companies that deal specifically with the threats you may encounter (e.g. carjacking and kidnapping). Consult an armoring company in your area and start going over your options.
