MY09 E350 detailed
This afternoon I went and got my new MY09 E350 I purchased in October detailed. The guy who did it is really good and works out of his house. I've seen his work on a MB Gullwing and other cars and thought I'd try him. It took about 3.5 hours. If you live in LA and are interested in getting a good detail, IM me and I'll pass on his contact info. He charged $250 for the work (Clay Bar, etc..)
He got it nice and wet looking. It gives the paint (Sienna Black) a lot of depth and brings out the brown metallic flake in that color nicely. The blueish tint on some of the pics is the reflection of the overhead bright blue sky.

I had taken it off a week or so ago and replaced it with one of DFWDude's enameled flat white stars. I may put back the upright star, not sure. It only takes a few seconds to swap out.
But I did debadge the rear, except for the star which is pinned on, unfortunately. I prefer to be subtle rather than advertise I drive a MB.
I bought the car for its engineering and not for social status![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I guess I'm actually kind of sensitive that I drive a car with a stereotype attached.....
Nick, thanks for the comment. I think he did a really good job.

You are driving one of the only cars on the road that does not have its name printed on it anywhere except in VERY small print around the hood ornament, and I would assume that is still there on the flat thing!

Actually on the 2007+ it's on the grill and not the hood ornament, so you may have added some advertisement!

And, yeah, it is redundant being both on the grill and now on the hood. That's the only problem with the flat star on the newer cars. I like the flat star, it looks sort of retro with the white enamel. Maybe I'll just replace the grill itself someday....

Yep, you're right. At least MB doesn't blast it all over the place ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Thanks. We'll see how long it lasts. I live in an old 1920s Spanish style house with a teeny garage and so I park it outdoors mostly (these shots were done at the detailer's house.) But, at least the paint should be healthier and happier after this.... like going to a weekend spa for a body treatment

By the way, you can paint stripes on an elephant, but everyone will still know its an elephant and not a zebra.
Enjoy the car!

Why is it that we Americans allow ourselves to be made to feel guilted about our success? That is what America is about. Work hard, work smart, plan your work then work your plan. If it ends up in success, there's no shame in that.

I didn't buy the car because it was a Mercedes, I bought it only because it is a well-made and comfortable car that has Euro driveability and suits my current needs. And also because my father drove one (hence my 220S nick.) He loved his car and passed away when I was young, so this is also somewhat sentimental for me.
Anyway, enough of that. I will enjoy it, for certain.
