Had Magnaflows installed yesterday, now BIZZARRE sound when accelerating hard...!
The next set of used E55 mufflers I come across, I'll shoot them your way.
Sorry to hear about the problems.
Why did you go with them anyway? You seemed pretty gun shy about going with something too loud.
That is exactly how to do it!!! My salesmanager has a 2006 SL55 with a Kleeman kit on it and he used to have magnaflows and it use to make the highest pitched noise. He later went back to Amg mufflers and it sounds so much clearer and deeper.

As stated above, Benz-o-rama suggested that noise might be wind blowing past the exhaust tips, which are fairly large by the way... I'm wondering what the fix is for that...? I think I'll keep looking for a exhaust off a SL55 AMG, CLS55 AMG or E55 AMG, or maybe just bite the bullet and buy the REMUS Sport exhaust...
as far as MagnaFlows...they will be 'OK' for a small period -- depending on how much you drive -- then they eventually 'lose' the inner packing and become a droning muffler -- especially if you remove the resonators.
if you're looking for sound, then the AMG mufflers will be your choice or if you want little sound (above stock) but still performance, then Remus will be a good choice....hopefully this helps.
I know AAA Muffler in L.A. sells Remus mufflers at a good price (since they install many of them).

Soo, looking at Remus at the moment... Can't find a sound clip of an E500 with Remus though... Don't want to make ANOTHER mistake if I can avoid it... No AMG exhausts to be found on any Forum at the moment either...
