I never knew this about gas cap location !!

I received this in an email today and thought I'd pass it on. You may already know this, but I certainly didn't :

"WHO KNEW THIS???

I have been driving for over 55 years... I would think I should have
noticed the little secret on my dashboard that was staring me in the
face the whole time...I didn't...and I bet you didn't either...

Have you ever rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the gas
station wondered...mmm, which side is the gas filler cap?
My normal solution was to stick my head out the window, strain my
neck and look, try to see in the side mirrors or even get out of the car!
Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret
so you will no longer look like Ace Ventura on your way to the gas station
or put your neck at risk of discomfort or injury.

If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump?
The handle of the gas pump will extend out on either the left or right
side of the gas pump?
If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left? If your tank
is on the right, the handle will be on the right (see photo). It is that simple!"

I don't think gas fillers can be located at the rear anymore.

LOL, starbrite, I'm with you: been driving for over 25 years now but I did NOT know that! And it happens to me all the time with rental cars, or even if I haven't driven my wife's truck for a while I catch myself at the gas station thinking about the location of the gas cap :-) Thanks - really valuable info (for me).

On some cars there is a little arrow pointing to the left or right next to the pump indication location of the gas tank.

AsianML, good to see your comment. I have not seen you for quite some time, either here or the "other place". Great to see you and I hope you are doing well my friend!

Yes, my wife's Lexus suv has the arrow. I drive both cars and was always pulling into a station thinking "which side is this one on "

Always good to know which side the gas cap is on for rentals. Now that it's figured out, the only problem is trying to find the gas door opener on some car makes. So sometimes we'll still look like a dumbass in rentals at the gas station, when your *** is hanging in the air as you search the floor and around the seat for any lever that looks like it might open the damn gas door.

Wow, this is some coincidence!
At the end of last night's Wheel Of Fortune, Vana told how she "discovered" this tip yesterday. (maybe she reads this forum?)
