How many miles on your W211?
My current V6 is running well, no problems so far, just usual serviceable items, poly v-belt will need replacing soon though, brake pads are still fine (last replaced at 93,000 miles), ball joints have a little play in them.
By this evening, it will have rolled over to 148,000 miles!
Rear airmatic shocks/ air springs, air compressor / A/C Ignition Key, Memory seats, door locks, lighter, and other stuff. Just turned 109,000 miles.
2. 81k
3. bilateral lower ball joints, bilateral struts, leaking valve cover gaskets, heater control valve
I found all this stuff and more scheduled maintenance when I purchased this car two weeks ago and took it in for the heater valve. I will chip away at these issues, but otherwise I still love my car.

If you used OEM belt, idle and tensioner you should have no squeal.

Some new stuff to add, unfortunately:
-Front ball joints
-Front bushings
-Control arms (about another year left according to my shop)
-Center speaker (just went out, first gonna try the felt thing)
-Red battery message (probably aux battery, damn SBC system)
-Front ball joints (easy home repair)
-Front bushings
-All glow plugs at 40k
-Now have idiot light for #5 glow plug
-Water pump and pulley. (forced to drive 120 miles on freeway with no serp belt, or alt, but temp was 5 F, so eng stayed cool. Shut car off 500 yards from dealer at top of freeway exit ramp/traffic light, where red light stopped the car and ended air cooling!)
-Front springs, LH rotted out, replaced both.
-Still on second set of rotors and pads.
Still getting 40 MPG on highway!
I think the 7G-Tronic has issue with same control mapping in both COMFORT and SPORT settings. Always starts in 1st gear ( like S ), but always rapidly short shifts up ( like C ). Still have ~~ 36 days ~~ left on 60 day used car warranty, so gotta get back to MB dealer for quick check out. I do not want VW dealer to play with 7G if there is an issue. Car was "sometimes" serviced at the same local MB dealer...the trans was serviced at 43K miles ( 40K was called for ). Hope he used the right oil ( Mobil 1 ESP M5W-40 ). Everything else ( except for CD that jumps like mad on bumps ) seems A-OK.
Reading this 11 page W211 thread is interesting. "take deep breath, keep toes forward, and start marching >> hoping for good luck.
btw, no complaint with fuel consumption. If I drive like a normal human being, I can get good mpg considering the displacement of this 6.2 liter V8. The 7 speed tranny helps a lot. This is after a 200 mile cruise with mixed driving in C mode. Back roads, a little bit of freeway and some stop and go. And a couple of throttle mashes.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
P.S. This data will make you glad you did not buy a Jaguar or an Audi.
