Run Flat Indicator Active

i recently got this message on my car and was wondering if its suppose to be there. i dont remember seeing this message before so i made sure all tires have the same tire pressure but the message never went away. so i went to the dealer and they said this is normal but i have a hard time believing dealers from my experience.

I should know this (except that my W211 had the Beru system) but I understand the photo is from the "basic display menu", not from the TPMS settings menu?

Could it be just that the system has been reset and only now reports that it has become active? The new Siemens system takes quite a few miles (even tens) to activate. You don't seem to have a lot of miles on the car, has the message been there for a long time? Does it pop up again even if you acknowledge it?

The screenshot you have posted is normal. Since you have a BlueTec it means that your car is equipped with run-flat tires because you do not have any space in your trunk to put a spare. When your spare tire would be you have the Ad-Blue reserve for the clean diesel system. The screen you are refering to is your run flat tire monitoring system. Its very similar to the TPMS system for car with regular tires. All the screen shot is telling you is that the Run Flat Monitoring System is activated and is running fine. if you hit the R-Button (Reset button; the one you reset your trip milage calculator with) you will have the option of resetting the system. This comes in handy once the system alerted you that you have low preassure in one of your tires or you had a puncture and needed to replace a tire. Judging from the screen shot everything is fine and the system is working OK. No need to sweat

Really ? I thought the new generation of BluTech's all have run flats because of the Ad-Blue tank in the back where the spare tire goes.

But then why do you have a spare if your car is equipped with run flats ?

I thought all US cars have the full TPMS system. The RDW or tyre pressure loss warning system generally has similar messages except the tyre pressure display.

Do I understand right that this message appears repeatedly? I don't find you stating you have cleared the message (acknowledge for the car) Perhaps a result from specific version coding.

all North america cars have to have some sort of air loss warning system, be it TMPS or a pressure loss warning.

i have reset it many times but nothing changes. the reason why im confused is i think it means run flat indicator active as in its detected air loss

Tire Pressure Monitor

This TPMS is not a wheel sensor pressure indicator, rather it is a part of the ESP that detects loss of tire pressure by measuring wheel rotational speed. When the tires are at correct pressure, you use that screen to reset the system, hence the "R" reset button option.
My car is a CLK500 '06
My problem is that i cannot get to that screen. It ia supposed to be a submenu of the main display, but i cant seem to find it even though it is in the owners manual..

I guess I am just stupid

Does anybody know if this thing might be disabled, or was it optional equipment? My car had run flats when new, but the second set are Conti Contact3 which as far as i can tell are not RF. They do not have the "MOE" code on the tire only "MO".

Could the dealership have turned off the TPM when they installed the non Run flat tires?

This describes the early versions.

Later versions use pressure sensors on valve stems that send radio message to a receiver under the car.
