Thump in rear (trunk)

I have an 05 500. it has about 38000 miles on it. I've noticed for some time a thump or clunk sound coming from the rear of the car when i accelerate from a stop. I finally took everything out thinking it was something i had in there sliding to the back. But it is still there.

Has anyone had this happen? I've searched through this board and found threads about the hose valve and all that, but that is not the type of issue I am having, thanks.

I've got an occaisional thump in the rear too, but mine is only when I'm parking, in Reverse and I apply the brakes... Its almost like one of the brakes is sticking & then pops into action... but Its never reproduceable at the Dealership. It always sounds like I bumped into something & I always then come to an immediate full stop.

...Never found the source of it.

This has been discussed in this forum before. If I remember correctly, there's some kind of expansion going on with the fuel filler tube. I have the same thing. But now that you've brought it up and I think about it, after almost two years of driving, I'm not noticing it as much.

I found this:https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...e-stopped.html

Hope this helps.

There's a long thread from a few years ago on this forum called "Dead body in my trunk"

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...-my-trunk.html

fwiw, I also have the "thunk."

Here's the "solution" (of which there is none....) https://mbworld.org/forums/1622610-post29.html
