My baby got hit :(((

Hey guys, I put so much work into this car, lowering (did my self, just bought springs), smoked tails, rims, hids, limo tint. Then the woman ran a red light and clipped my back end

Possibly gonna be a write off due to 3 airbags going off, I thinking to buy back car, fix it myself, dunno yet, its rly stuck onto me so i dont wanna let it go :P I should smoke some L.E.D lights maybe? any cool after market back bumpers?

Welcome to my world. Our E500 was rearended last week for my 5th rear end in 40 years. Never any front or side damage only rear end damage.

Now waiting to confirm ins will pay.

Something you might want to consider with the ins. company. Since the car has been hit, there is a certain loss in resale value. I believe you might be entitled to this loss compensation. This is especially true for high end cars.

Its good to know you are OK. It seems your car had a significant hit. Is the chassis damaged?

Doesn't look bad, imho. I've had worse, and it was fixed up. You're paying for it with your insurance. I'd love to see before and after pics. Maybe you could describe or show us how the shop fixed it, tell us the labor hours (vs. dollar cost), etc. We might be able to eyeball a fixit or salvage job in the future.

Also, my recent fender repair had clearcoat that was slightly dimpled compared to the orginal glass-like finish nearby. I was told to return for a polish after a few days for a better look. Then I noticed that other original paint had faint dimples, too.

I'd be curious to know how the new and old paint compares. Maybe get pictures that show that?

What do you think of this "orange peel" idea:

I went to the shop to ask that the orange peel, as they call it, be polished off where my dent was fixed. The owner said that it is typical for MB's to have a glassy finish up top and an orange peel effect closer to the bottom of the door or fender. He said it is believed to resist rocks that way - there is more paint there. The rest of the car's original paint had orange peel in some sections.

What they tell you about your paint might help the rest of us to accept or reject MB paint work in the future.

Good luck! I hope you are pleasantly surprised and that you don't miss your car too much.
