Is this a service warning or a feature warning that I bumped?

The car sat for a few hours, and the message is gone. Hmmm.

Of course, it came back. Fortunately, both times, I captured a photo of the message on my phone. We shall see what service does with it.

So the active headlamp (so the light turns as you turn) motor is dead. They have to replace the entire headlamp assembly for $2400. Fortunately, Carmax offers a 30 day warranty, so they are picking up the tab. If it ever fails again, there is no way I'd fix it for that price. The lights still worked, so it isn't really a required feature..

Both left and right headlamp motor are dead? Hmmmm... What are the odds both motors died at the same time. If the messege went away and went back, could it be something is just loose?

Ya, you could live without it. Ya, if both went out that is very odd and unlikely.

I had that message come up once but it went away and never came back (knock on wood).

My left active headlamp just went out. HID's still work. Out of warranty. Is there anyway to just replace the motor? I can see the headlamp pointing one direction. Thanks in advance.

They could also just be out of sync. Next time it happens, see if this helps:

With car started, turn steering wheel all the way in one direction until it locks out. Then turn it in the opposite direction until it locks out. Turn car off. Restart car.

Whenever I disconnect my battery this happens.
