I d/l'd this file (10.93 mb) a few times, burnt it onto CD-RW and CD-R (at 2 different speeds), did the 1+3+8 trick, and the update just doesn't go through. The cd spins for a few minutes, and eventually gets spat out, eventually with an "CD error" or something like that. this is on a 05.

It doesn't give you an option @PB. See my screenshots. I'm updating once and downgrade once. Uses the same wording. It just displays the current firmware version and the new one which can be newer or older.

no, I burnt the individual files. US4006 zip didn't contain an ISO. Then again, it was only 10.93 MB instead of 34.5MB, so perhaps I got the wrong file?

I was hoping to get my deck to read MP3 but after reading more and running some searces I realized it won't work - still need to figure out why at every turn key my CD retarts to track one as if I just inserted it -
