They built the same models for US and rest of world models (ECE) at first. Then they switched course bc MB demanded it and also to save cost.
You got a good DVD drive (and I believe it is the one that even reads dual layer DVDs, FJ-TEN).. On the other hand, the Omega chip is indeed the DVD playback processor.
In that case you might be able to actually play back DVD movies.

Basically it's not possible to play DVD MOVIES on US comand, because it hasn't DVD Decoder.

For those, who have updated their comand by this software and can't enter Engineering Menu.
Try this:
1. SERV>Lang
2. Hold buttons: END>Arrow (it is located between LEFT and UP buttons)>AUDIO

That doesn't do any good as once you're inside EM you still won't be able to access DR.DIST menu where Video In Motion is located. And I keep saying this...

2007 R350 & 2006 E350 Wagon
I have both a US Command and a European Command. It's a 2006 E350 built in Dec 2005. I don't know the manufactured date of the head unit, but the head unit software has never beed updated (at my request of the dealer. I use the European head unit to be able to play DVD movies and the head unit is enabled for that. If I swap back the US head unit, is there a chance that I can get DVD movies to play on that unit as well?
Also, if I update the software on the US unit, will the Euro unit still be able to play DVD movies?

If you update your US COMAND then this will update your US COMAND and nothing else. You will not be able to play DVD back on your US COMAND because it lacks the hardware (Omega chip to decode and play back DVD). All settings for this are stored on the COMAND head unit not in your AGW. So you can safely swap head units all day long without loosing the ability to watch DVD while driving (or not driving)!

TURNED HEAD UNIT ON--> (I was in FM radio mode and just turned the volume all the way down)
HOLD DOWN 1,3,8 @ the same time AND
ON THE SCREEN ITS SHOULD SAY - INSERT DISC
I INSERTED DISC AND IT STARTING TO UPGRADE
IT SHOWS 2 VISUAL PROGRESS BARS AND SAYS
FLASH AND REFLASH AND THEN SAID
RESTARTING UNIT IN 3,2,1 AND RADIO SHUT OFF THEN ON
DONE - TOOK ABOUT 6-8 MIN
IT SAVED ALL MY PRESETS BUT RESET MY EQUALIZERS
NOW THE CD DRIVE IN THE HEAD UNIT ITSELF PLAYS
DVDs with MP3 Folders and MP3 Cds.

I downloaded this file, unzip him and write on CD in 8x, because my burner can't slow speed. When I put CD, I get the error: Update Error - Wrong variant. Where is the problem?

I update my firmware with correct version 30/06 and mp3 files again not reading? What combination is for engineering menu in the new firmware version. Now and CD's and DVD's not reading.
