Autoclose Sunroof
Is there a way for one touch auto closing of the sunroof? I need to keep the sunroof close button pressed in order for the sunroof to close. If I take my hand off the depressed switch it stops closing the sunroof. This is a safety issue too because I need to keep one hand on this button until the sunroof closes fully.

there are two clicks. press past the first stop and it will close automatically. Mine has a sensor though that is too sensitive and ends up reopening about half the time.

With the pano roof, hold the hvac recirc button. Warning - this will close everything that's open (windows and roof).

Can someone please confirm this? I have a 2007 E550 with the pano roof. I have tried pressing the sunroof close button in various ways but no matter what I try as soon as I take my hand off the switch it stops closing the sunroof. Very annoying.

the pano roof didn't come with one touch close feature, i too had to endure that pain, till steve fixed it to have " one touch " close.

Every single car I've had has had the ability to auto-close the sunroof.
It's ridiculous to have to hold the sunroof close button with one hand while driving with the other. Sometimes the button is over eager that after it closes the glass portion, it starts closing the shade and then I have to back up and open the shade and take care to then not again open the glass portion again. Would make for a great Three Stooges skit! *Nyah* *Nyah*

Like he said, get SteveNL to fix it next time he's in the US.
No doubt some litigious happy American got their $2k Armani scarf stuck in the pano roof and sued MBUSA. Just like the guy here who wanted to start a class action suit over a broken key FOB.
We all have to pay for other people's stupidity and ineptness. I can kind of see MBUSA's side on these sorts of things. Instead of having to put up with the constant frivolous lawsuits, just remove the features from the car.

Can someone confirm if there is an option in STAR to turn on one touch auto close of the sunroof? If it is accessible by STAR I can get my local dealer to do this for me...

[quote=BlueOpal;4519876]Funny you should ask....
Cleaning and lubrication procedure calls for 2 "super special sacred MB" products:
"Special sliding compound" A000 989 3660 MSRP $44.50
"Lubricant Paste" A001 989 4651 MSRP $70
I did find a website that has them for $30.48 and $54 but how big are these containers? I don't need to lub an entire car lot.
***Thank you so much for the reply and information though!!!!!***

Manual makes no mention of auto-close for my 2007 E550 or I would not have posted the question here. For those who have activated auto close on a 2007 with pano roof it would be really useful to know how this was done. Was it done through star or did a special switch or relay need to be installed?

In respect to the US face lift W211 with pano roof, there is no express closing. Only express opening.
I've only heard (via the internet, which is sometimes more akin to getting a bad education than anything else), that people have had it "fixed." Which is why I also recommended Steve. But dacollector should be able to tell you, since he said he had it done in his post above.
Why send him a pm or email him via his website. He can tell you definitively. He'll know if it can or cannot be done, or if it requires a replacement switch module or simply a software tweak. He's normally very quick to answer and if traveling, he'll have somebody answer for you.

Does anyone know if the W212 has one-touch close of the sunroof?

I don't know for certain about the W212 maybe do a search over there. But the W212 manual does mention express closing whereas the W211 manual doesn't.
Again, just send Steve a pm or email. He'll tell you. Here's his website: http://www.mbenznl.nl/index.php

my 211 will close all windows and sunroof by pressing and holding the recirculate button for about 2 or 3 seconds. Its a fun button to impress unsuspecting passengers ;-)
Now by darn key will not open or close the windows like its supposed to!!!!
