Getting ready to do the front brakes and change the brake fluid.

Fluid on shelf, Pads showing up today, Power Bleeder waiting, and just have to order in the rotors.
Guess it will be in the next few weeks, when I find some time.

Replaced the center caps on the wheels since the blue part had flaked off on them. Found a set of 4 on eBay for $20. They look great!!

Got an estimate in the rear bumper. $550 to fix the accident damage and another $300 to $400 if I want it pulled off and refinished properly.

Dropped it off for the proper full removal strip and refinish.
Talked the insurance company into picking up the whole cost.
I think they were just happy my wife did not get out of the car holding her neck.

Tried to do my brake pads that I got from R1 Concepts, found out my rear caliper bolts had been replaced by the previous shop and were Torx Plus 27s which no one carries, got mad, then decided it wasn't worth my time so I'll pay a shop to take care of it.

A regular torx bit should have worked.

Removed the right front wheel and associated rear fender liner to inspect a leaking washer fluid reservoir. Turns out the pump is dead and leaking. No local stores had a pump in stock so it's something to knock out some other weekend.

Trust me, spent a long time trying to get the rear caliper bolts out, even used a penetrating catalyst. Torx 30 was too small and Torx 40 was way too big, and I found out through a little research that if it seemed it was between sizes, then it was a most likely a Torx Plus 27, which - based on the shape of the bolt patterns - they obviously were Torx Plus once I got a camera back there, not regular Torx. I got two bolts out using a regular Torx, but the other two were tighter and I was bordering on stripping them even when I used the longest socket wrench I could find, I started getting cam out no matter what I tried. So no, I am not easily defeated, maybe just inexperienced, but I wasn't about to strip the sh*t out of two Torx heads by using improper tools. Not to mention the Torx 30 drive bit socket I used had all 6 lobes completely bent after I was done despite being a $10 bit from a reputable company. Also called a few friends that work at a local shop and at Just Brakes and neither had the right bit.

You meant T+35?
If it was a T+ 35 then you needed a T-35.
Yes a T30 would probably strip out.

They seem to go back and forth.
2007 W211 rear are Torx, 2008 X164 are hex.
Have not done either fronts yet.

Will be finding out what is on the front of the W211 in a few weeks.
Brake parts are on their way.

Ended up getting new winter wheels and winter tires. I was looking for a set of OEM W211 rims but was unable to find any, so I got these TSW Mugellos for half of what they were worth, brand new and in box - never mounted. I decided to use these as my winter set, they're 18x8 ET45 so as far as the offset goes... well, it isn't the best looking fitment, and I think they're an OK looking wheel at best, but for a winter setup not bad at all. They're definitely growing on me. Decided to go for dedicated snow and dedicated summer tires from now on, and I have to get new summer wheels anyway. Packing away my Bridgestone Potenza RE760s for next spring since they only have 2000 miles on them and aren't showing much of any wear. The winter tires I picked up were GTRadial Champiro Winterpro HPs in 225/45/18 (even going from a 245 to a 225 they look pizza cutter). Yes, they're a pretty entry-level snow tire, but better than even the best all season, so I'm excited to try them out in slicker conditions. NthDegree had these on his Subaru Legacy GT and they were pretty stellar for the price as I recall.

Also just did transmission fluid change and brake pads this last week. Need another ignition coil for coil D here soon I can tell it's starting to go but no codes yet.
