Question rear end dropping

I have recently been having a problem that seems to happen a lot. My suspension is dropping when I shut my car off. Now here is where I get confused I understand that I am having a problem with my air springs but why is it that sometimes the right side will drop and sometimes the left side. Sometime it will even be both sides. If this was a constant problem I might be able to figure it out. usually it will happen once or twice a week and then it is okay. It doesn't matter what ride level you are on. Is there some valve that could be failing and not holding the air or do you just think that both springs are going bad?https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bs.gif

I had the same problem but it would happen only to rear drivers side and it would only happen after the car was sitting parked for weeks at a time. I dont drive my car in the winter so this would happen all winter long every 2 or 3 weeks. I would start the car and it would level off, only to happen again 3 weeks later???

Yes that was what mine was like but now it has esclated to every couple of days. Sometimes it will be when the car is sitting for a while and sometimes it is within seconds of the car being off. I am wondering if there is some kind of valve going bad

generally when something like this happens, one or both of the rear air springs are leaking. If its still under warranty I'd suggest taking the car in and getting it looked at because generally replacing those things involves dropping the rear subframe for replacement.

Its not still under warranty. I am starting to thing that it is something in the center of the car because once time I got out and heard air and it was coming from the center of the vehicle. maybe a line or something.I am sure that if I take it to the shop they will say air springs and then after I toss out 3k they will be like oh its a $10 plastic hose

Maybe part of the reason MB has dropped this technology for certain 2012 models...my 06 E55 used to drop after tine a well and made all kinds of sounds sitting in the garage.

I went to the dealership today finally for this problem and they are telling me that my vehicle has small pin holes in both air spring and my compressor is getting weak. Quote $4,300. I am not paying $4,300 for the work to be done. I am going to but the air springs online for Aprox $625 each and I am going to actually take the time to do it myself. I am going to run the compressor until it stops working. Just because its weak doesn't mean that it needs replaced now but will eventually.

cold air = more dense than hot air. Molecules stick closer together, thus taking up less space.

Thanks guys lucky for me I am stationed in hawaii so the difference between winter and summer is about 5 degrees. The down side is that I deploy soon I will only have about 2 more weeks on the island and then its off to california then afghanistan. Its looking like I am going to have to wait until I come back to do the suspension. I am planing on doing motor and trans mounts, valve cover gaskets, fuel shut off valve (if I can find this thing), and purge valve before I leave. I will keep you informed

Welcome to my world. I have already had that all completed on my E500.

I have been told that driving a MB I should expect these repairs as "normal" wear and tear issues.

Perhaps but I won't buy another car with air suspension due to "normal" issues. I prefer a more reliable system.
